The destruction that is happening within the ACEC and on private lands in the area is a completly seperate issue from the old Moss Mill Road. I do not support reopening this road across private lands and mixing the issues only muddies the water. This issue is all about illegal motorcycle activity that has escalated into full blown violence and vandalism. Not suprising since members of the BLM OHV patrol threatened such behavior after the announcement was made that J1299 was to be a closed route.
I take threats against my life seriously. Since talking to my neighbor who was assaulted by a motorcyclist while walking in the area, I believe these are not idle threats. This behavior has gone on long enough. The voice of reason and sanity will prevail.
I have embraced the original philosophy of the OHV patrol. Education of the public is the answer and cooperation with the BLM/USFS guidlines in the area promote conservation of a resource that is shared by all is our vision. The laws regarding OHV use in the area are clear, it is a limited multi use area that is restricted by a court order at this time. The BLM can be found to be in contept of this order if it is found they are out of compliance.
Concerned citizens will continue our monitoring of the area regardless of threats and violence. We will continue to shine the light
