Mike Castro has told several people that he intends to close Bowen Ranch.
I have had only a glimpse of the hassles of being Gatekeeper to the Deep Creek Hot Springs. Although there many good people visiting, there are also jerks and social misfits; some clearly dangerous.
Believe me, it's not worth the amount of money that is collected. To have some drunk beating on your door at 2 a.m., knowing he is going to wander off and get lost and require a rescue effort? To be offered $4 for your inconvenience? To not even get the $4, because this "visitor" has to be turned away?
He is tired of it, and just wants to lock the place up and ride his dirt bike. I wouldn't have lasted as long. Maybe it's pushing him off the deep end.
