Wizard,
I think you misunderstood.
First of all, let's get the facts straight. Did you or did you not carve the trail to the Springs from the JF3 parking area? I heard you did, and it was NOT from Mike C.
One fact I do understand is that you are an advocate for an alternate way into the Springs. That is, a way OTHER than thru Mike's property. And YOUR particular way into the Springs is definitely thru the JF3 trail that SOMEONE carved, whether it was you and Joe or whoever. You've described your preferred way in several times in this forum.
Another fact is that continued use of the "JF3 trail" will in fact give way to more and more use of the trail -- as it becomes more visible, it definitely will get more use. The fact that you tell others about it compounds the effect. Right or wrong, legal or otherwise, this is a fact. The more you use that trail, the more OTHERS will use that trail.
My point was that it seems a bit lopsided [for anyone] to say on one hand that Mike allows 90-something percent of all visitors into the Springs from his entry point, and that somehow he is the responsible for that problem, while on the other hand apparently take no responsibility or make any admission that you, yourself, are responsible for 'opening' the way for ANYONE to enter thru the 'alternate' entry -- the JF3 trail -- totally uncontrolled!
This whole thing get pretty convoluted with multiple topics and points being made in these posts.
The fact is, Mike does screen people as they come into his property and turns people away when necessary. He DOES screen people OUT at times. And he has EVERY right to do so.
"Who is going to screen the people coming thru the JF3 trial?" FOF apparently thinks it's unnecessary. Yet others blame Mike for his poor screening. The poor man can't win with you guys. People want it both ways. Well, ya can't have it both ways.
Wizard, if you are indeed responsible for building the trail from JF3, then admit it. If not, deny it. But say it right here for everyone to see. If you did, then I'd like to see what you have to say about the possible consequences of opening an unmonitored entry.
Mike has documented several accounts of helping people in the area of the Springs. I have seen those records and have no reason to believe they're anything but authentic cases of rescues by Mike.
One of the concerns Mike expressed to me is that the opening of yet another access point to the Springs has ALREADY caused him to rescue people on the JF3 trail and roads, which is entirely out of his 'jurisdiction', so to speak. He has no obligation, but human kindheartedness to help the victims of broken into and broken down cars on the JF3 trail. He has already received calls from the local Sheriff's department and FS to rescue individuals on that road.
If you have anything to do with the opening of a new route into the Springs, perhaps YOU should provide the rescues in the future. Perhaps YOU should leave YOUR phone number with the Sheriff and the FS so they can call YOU when someone gets broken into, loses their keys, or otherwise get stranded or lost.
I can hardly blame Mike for being upset [if indeed he is] with the opening of a new entry point that causes him to work harder and spend money and personal time rescuing people who choose NOT to pay the $4. He really has no responsibility to do so, except his moral mandate to be a good samaritan.
I don't think many have any appreciation for all the effort Mike has put into and continues to put into watching out for just about EVERYONE who visits the Springs -- no matter HOW they get in. Mike is the ONLY person involved here that does anything remotely resembling caring for the Springs and it's visitors (not withstanding volunteer's cleanup efforts).
Gail, on the other hand, causes nothing but distrust and dissention and false witnesses against her neighbor. Shame on you, Gail Fry :-(
I'm running outta time here... to be contintued....
