Mineralking, You are so right.... It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round... or in this case to make the Deep Creek Flow. If I don't get my daily dose of Deep Creek, I wouldn't know what to do! (Since I don't watch soap operas or reality TV shows.) Yep... Katrina, (aka. Gail and her companion) certainly keep this forum lively! It's like watching J.R. Ewing on those old "Dallas&quby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Katrina... please... help us understand you. We know you believe Mike Castro is evil, dangerous, and does not have a right to the Bowen Ranch. That message has come through about a zillion times. We understand that. We get the message that you are trying to "save" us all from Mike and his evil ways. We get it... we don't need to hear it any more. Okay? Tell us what possesses you?by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for the links Paul. Those were some nice hot springs pictures.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
So Jobe... Were they as impressed with your snake as they were with the others? ;o) Happy birthday!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Oh... and Katrina... Where can we see that three-earthly moon, one-heavenly moon (or is it the other way around.... | ) picture? Sounds intriguing. Maybe you can get the Wizard to post it on his Wizard's Pictures web site! I can't wait to see the tight rope walker photos. (Trying to continue with the cease fire in the DMZ here...) I wish there was some way to post pictures here. They'reby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Now we're talkin! I realize that a forum is a freedom of speech thing for all and for many different ideas. But it sure is great to read these postive experiences, isn't it?!?!? Even from both sides of the ranch.... er... I mean camp! And thanks for the pictures of that awesome flood spectacle Wizard! You've certainly experienced and recorded it all, Mr. Wizard "James Taylor" Dude.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
There you go again Katrina... trying to focus the blame on someone else. Didn't you ever, as a teenager, go off and do things without your parent's permission? And what bearing does having their folks permission have with weather or not Mike should let them on the Ranch to camp? Do campgrounds (which also charge a fee) require notes from Mommy and Daddy for teenagers to camp? Nope! Dang it giby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yep... you've really done it now, haven't you Katrina? Do you really believe that dragging up all this "history"... true or fabricated, will make any difference to those of the forum or with any authorities you will try to persuade in your crusade against Bowen Ranch and Mike Castro? Nope... I doubt it. It is ancient history and has little or no bearing on the present. Better yet toby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
DANG! That Katrina chick beat me out with another "downer" post by 5 minutes! Oh well, it ain't too late to let some more positive Karma drown out the negative stuff. Other good stories? Come on Katrina... I'll bet you can tell us about some good experiences from the past! That IS why you are doing what you're doing, isn't it: to bring peace, harmony, good will, and the like to theby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hoo hOOO! I think we're on a roll here! Thanks AZ and Sycamore! Any more interesting Deep Creek stories or experiences from anyone? I guess I could tell you about my "accident" of jumping off a boulder and miss-judging the landing one time while I was exploring the cool stream and pools above the springs... Thanks Mike, I have seen a few interesing things at the springs, but nothing quite like that! One memorable experience I had was when a bus load of young German college students dropped in one Saturday about 10 years or so ago. Don't know if it was a Green Tortise tour or not... But I got a kick out of watching them spread that nice warm black mud all over each other. They were speaking theiby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ahhh... LaughingBear! So you admit it... it WAS YOU that funded and supported that war, the killing, other armed aggression and bad things that our government sometimes does with that money you gave them! ;o) Naughty Bear! You are in the same boat as Wizard... he MUST also support armed agression at Bowen Ranch because of the money he gave Katrina. AZ Mike, You're much too modest. We should call YOU AZ "Rescue" Mike of OZ. But sad to say, after this story... I lost my faith in teenagers. They all had convinced me that they know everything. Now I'll have to wonder again ;o) And it was good hear the story first hand from you. And also good to hear that Mike Castro is capable of doing good things. Like I eluded to before:by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
As long as they are the right "Mikes"... ;o) Welcome back AZ man! And thanks again for taking me under your wing and filling me in on things when we first met a few months ago on the Deep Creek clean up day with the "Tree Cops". I still get a kick out of the notion of that day: All the uniformed USFS folks walking around picking up trash with some nekid DCV' ers! Yep... I stay away from the dang boob-tube as well. Good idea. Too many other quality things to do... Besides, reading the stuff on this forum is much more entertaining.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
An interesting story indeed. I'm curious about the cell phone call from the desert though. I've been to the springs with two different cell phone services over the past few years. It's pretty remote and I always had "NO SERVICE" when I arrived at the ranch. And once you get down in any of those canyons... forget it. And why would the sherrif's department call a private citizen's reby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yes Jobe, I did check out the Digital Desert web site. I think I stumbled across it some time ago in my web surfing. The desert, though stark and foreboding, definetly has a beauty to it all it's own. I think some of the pictures on the site do capture that unique beauty.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
What?!?!? Katrina said: "I am not threatened at all by any of these false statements being made to confuse people. In fact, its kind of fun to look back at the past events up on the Mountain. These events are certainly colorful." Haven't you been preaching all along that you ARE threatened and concerned with your safety? And now you are saying all this stuff is "fun to look baby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hmmm. Two very different perspectives of the same guy. Which perspective should we believe? I've only met Mike a couple of times while paying the parking fee at the ranch. Hard to draw a conclusion from those couple of brief visits. Just remember that truth is truth and it is independent from what one choses to believe. I would suspect there's a bit of truth to both sides of these storieby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard, I believe, my good man, that you have hit the proverbial nail, squarely on it's broad head! The attraction of those wonderful springs, like other good things in life, attracts both the good, the bad and the ugly. Oops, that's three things, not two... Anyway, thank goodness the actual Springs are on public lands ( or federal... or whatever it is that gives us all free access), not in cby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ron, Thanks for the clarification on the Mt. bike issue. Like I said, as soon as "da man" told me it was a no-no, I decided to conform. (Actaully it was a cute Forest Service lady... Dang! those cute gals have control over us Neanderthals, don't they?!?!?) Anyway, I agree, no need to twist words and their meanings. No vehicles means no vehicles, motorized or with pedals. Just another note of information. I use to ride my mtn. bike into the springs up PCT from the Majove River Dam. I found out later, after a scolding from a USFS crew who was working at the dam as I was riding back, that the trail is NO VEHICLES ALLOWED. I thought it was just motorcycles and 4-wheelers they didn't allow. But it means no Mtn. Bikes as well. So... if you want to bike, ride it onby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard... I know... I know... I know... the monkey story was not the best comparison for the Bowen ranch stuff. I posted it more as poking fun at me, and those like me who may have never had any negative experiences with Mike Castro. But who, through the conditioning of reading the stories of those who have encountered things first hand, we are now happy to join in the fight... so to speak. Sorry Jobe, no help is needed in driving to Idaho. It's only a few hours drive for me. Vegas is a bit out of the way from Northern Utah, where I live (as I mentioned in the last post) ;o) Happy hot pottin' to all... and to all a good night!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, you may have confused me with an Idahoan... because I may have mentioned that I enjoy the numerous hot springs there. In fact I'll be checking some out this very weekend. I'm from Utah, just a bit south of the Gem State. (I can hear some of the snickers now... but that's okay... I'm use to it. I'm okay with my roots) Katrina, thanks for the continued math lesson. You can all see my rambling response (although I thought it was quite sensible ;o) ) to the longer thread below. But Wizard, you sure hit it right on. There's too many people who pick and choose which laws, commandments, whatever... do or don't pertain to them. And to a great or lesser extent, we're all guilty of it.
