From the long lost out of State Hot Potter..... Looks like I MAY be able to fenagle (sp?) a business trip to the Inland Empire the last week of January. I'm trying to decide if it's worth spending an extra day or two in the area at my exspense. Any new word on on the forest being un-locked for a LEGAL visit to Deep Creek? BTW... A happy and prosperous New Year wish to all fellow Deep Creekersby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Too bad the wildfire "eradicated" so many trees, a natural resource that will take years to restore. I hope it took a zillion of those dang bark beatles with it! Unfortunately, I doubt that those buggers will ever be eradicated...by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
All, As I watch from a safe distance in Northern Utah, the devastation caused by the wildfires in Southern California, my heart and prayers go out to you all. Having lived in the Inland Empire for four years, and having spent much time at Deep Creek and in the San Bernardino Mountains, I am deeply saddened by the loss of life, home/businesses and the precious natural resources of the forest. Fellow Springers of Hot Pots... Just wanted to share a few more pictures with those who appreciate the outdoors, taking care of themselves, and adventure lovers in general. I have uploaded some new photos to my MSN group picture area. The new ones are not hot spring related... but I finally got around to uploading better resolution pictures of my experiences during the 2002 Olympic Winterby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for the information Celtfire... and thanks for checking at the other areas Ron. Looks like there's some good sources to recover a copy elsewhere! Happy Hot Pottin' to all! I can't wait to get back to DCHS now after that great visit on Friday!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
All, I had one of the best days at Deep Creek Hot Springs yesterday. It was one of those rare instances when I didn't have to rush out of there in the afternoon to catch a plane back home. I was able to explore some places upstream and enjoy some swimming in the pools up the canyon. Thanks Wizard, for joining me and showing me some of those great areas of the drainage that you love so much.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Opps! Looks like I introduced an error in the second paragraph of my rework by leaving out the word "do". Hope you catch this before you send: Should be: "We try to do our part..." rather than: We try to our part...." Good job Ron, and better get it sent before we rewrite the whole thing by committee ;o)by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey Wizard, Welcome back. I'm staying at a Friend's house in Upland and will be visiting Deep Creek tomorrow... Friday. Anybody gonna be around? I'll check back on the forum later tonite. Hope the Burning Man was not too much for you... you Monkey #5!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yeh... and look at where the whole thing is centered. Right here in Utah... And the Rocky mountains along the Wasatch Front in Northern Utah are the hardest hit. That's why I'm comin to Southern Californa "where it never rains"... so's I kin get outta this drought for a few days! I hope Deep Creek is gonna be worth the soak this weekend!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
PS> It sure would be nice to send this on an "official" DCV letterhead. Now whatever happened to the effort for the DCV logo?... ;o)by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Dang! Things have really been at a lull on the forum since everyone got civil toward one another ) Did everyone (along with the Wizard) take a long vacation or something? NOT that I'm complaining about that... but there's not much to tune into lately besides a couple of articles posted and guessing the name of hot springs locations that I wish I could visit. So... is it still worth my whilby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'm just wondering why the story was posted in the first place when things have been quite tame and peaceful here in the forum as of late.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
And what does it mean for public access to the Deep Creek drainage and the Hot Springs if it does pass?by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
With all the drought conditions and fire season in full swing, here's a good site to check out all current wildfires in the country. http://www.geomac.gov/ Click on the "Wildfire Mapping" link to pinpont fire locations. Pretty slick, you can keep zooming in a see roads and cities affected by the fires. James, Enjoy your trip. I've been visiting Deep Creek off and on for the last 16 or so years. Truely a unique place it is. One of the Hot Springs books rated it as being in the top10 hot springs in North America. I've visited a bunch through out the west, southwest, and northwest, and I would have to agree with the rating. For all interested: A few more photos uploaded to my picture site as I continue to battle the infamous Wizard of OZ for the most outdoor photos. Paul, Thanks for the information on print-quality photos. However, following your information is exactly what I have been doing, and something still seems to be hosed. Or maybe I'm not understanding. I hate to tie up the forum with this dilema, but your profile does not include your e-mail address, so I can't send you something directly. Paul, Thanks for the info. I have MSN as my ISP at home, so I have 30 megabytes of storage space. Kinda nice. I'm paying them $40/month for my high speed DSL broadband connection, so they better give me more storage! I don't recall seeing a "don't resize" option, but I'll have to see if I can find it. Yep, MSN Groups is a great way to post a bunch of pictures to share on the web, but they do degrade the resolution if it was orginally bigger than their 600 x whatever pixel size limit. Although... I have noticed that a few groups have managed to upload larger resolution pictures. I assume that perhaps they are paying for the ability to upload higher resolution pics. Anyone know? Jobe, So you're in the market for a digital camera hugh? Read carefully now: The picture that Rick uploaded is one I took with a Kodak digital camera. I'm not sure which model it is, because I borrowed it from the in-laws. (Don't tell them I was using it to take pictures at a clothing optional place like Deep Creek ;o) ) Now that I think about it... I probably tried to upload the pictureby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
From the DCV brochure... Thanks, Rick. Good advice to all for all outdoor places... not just Deep Creek. And my own slant on an old cliche' "Take only memories... Gotcha! ;o) Now that I have y'all's attention... I figured that I would do battle with the good Wizard in sharing some photos of Deep Creek Hot Springs, and some of my other favorite outdoor places to visit. I've sent a few of these pics to some of the DCHS forum regulars. Then I figure... why not use some of the tools available to share with all?!?!? I promithesss... No problemo Sycamore... Likewise, I did not feel that YOUR posts intended to do anyone any damage. That is why I was a bit surprised at some of the quick and biting responses from others on both sides.
