And that would NOT be the Utah Gary that lurks here in the forum from time to time. ) That dude... (ME) got married to the beautiful "Rain-Dancer Girl" back in the Christmas time-frame. Anyway, Congrats to Ann and that other-one Gary. Peace, Love and Happy Hot-Pottin!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Were those trout glowing the the dark as well?!?!? They were so "dam" big... likely because of the radioactive substances they were testing with those nuclear powered torpedoes... he... he.....he....by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Congrat's Wizard! I'll bet that y'all er happy to be in a new part of Oz-land! So when are you goin' to have an open house for all the Deep Creek desert rats? I'll bet Katrina, Castro, the Lions and tigers and Laughing folks (Bears and Sycamore's) and us others would love to come "trash" the place! ;o) Seriously, enjoy the new digs... you guys deserve it. I hope to be blown downby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
"One couple actually went for a swim in the cold Lagoon waters." Talk about a cold swim... I know the feeling! I took a swim in the Lagoon in the middle of December several years back. Of course any water in California was warmer than ANY water back in Northern Utah during that time of year. I even have a picture of the event. Check out picture #1 on this page from my MSN photo aby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Good boy! Camping at the ranch and NOT down at the springs. May the Hot Springs Gods bring good fortune upon you toasted buns!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Of course this bill has no affect on natural undeveloped/non-comercial hot springs such as Deep Creek. Soak away! Enjoy the outdoors... but don't pee in the pool!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
There goes y'alls neighborhood! I wonder where the water's gonna come from to support all those thirsty people in the desert?!?by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yep, I agree with Mike. I've been lurking here off and on to keep abreast of what's happening at the Oasis of Deep Creek. I sure hope I can get back there on business soon so's I can visit before the whole place is shut down by "da man" because of these inconsiderate and self-centered individuals. More great stuff Wizard! You are quite the explorer... and photographer. Keep up the reports!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That woderful digital picture contraption y'all picked up is still working wonders, I see. I'll have to share some recent photos from our 100-mile bike ride we did over the weekend through Canyonlands National Park on the White Rim Trail. A most excellent adventure... in spite of the gale-force winds and rain that deluged us on Saturday night. But it sure made for a clear and pretty day for thby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well, I just came from the break room at the office where I saw the FOX network broadcasting the news of the 60-car pile up in Cajon Pass near Devore. More LA Basin commuting fun. Salt Lake's stretch of I-15 is getting just as bad. Now LaughingBear... have you and MojaveGreen been setting booby traps again? This time across the I-15 Freeway? You bad boys! Something for you desert-dwellers who might be gazing at the stars on these clear, spring nights... away from the light polution of the big city. http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/skychart/skychart.asp With the current alignment of the planets, where four of our planets are visible at one time on a clear night, I thought you might be interested in this web site. Yep... that's a great site, isn't it? Be careful though, Wizard. You keep playing with it and you're likely to go blind. (Or you'll start to grow hair on your palms.)by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Here we go again... "Rumor is that... " If it's only a rumor, why the h*ll even bring it up and post? Oh yeah... time to stir the pot and keep the animosity and controversy going. Seems like old times...by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Neenner neener..... neener... Right now the Bald Eagles are migrating through northern Utah. Just 30 minutes away from my house, we went to the bird refuge out near the Great Salt Lake. One of the two small rivers that flows into the lake has several large cottonwood trees lining the river bank. The trees are loaded with Bald Eagles. In one tree alone we counted over 20 individual birds! Thby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Dang! I see that the Deep Creek Battle continues to rage for Deep Creek and the surround lands. Too bad the off roaders have the arrogant "entitlement" mentality that seems to prevail these days: i.e. "I do what I want, when I want, and I don't care about anything or anyone else as long as I'm having fun and my needs come first." NJ Naturist, Enjoy your trip! I'm an out-of-stater as well, and I enjoy getting to Deep Creek whenever I have a business trip to So. California. Nowhere near the volume of the good Wizard's picture site, but here's a link of mine with a few photos of Deep Creek as well. http://groups.msn.com/MeadFamilyAdventures There's also some great shots of some of my favorite Hot Springs haunts inby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well Wizard, it sounds like you are ratcheting up a few notches on the "geek-o-meater". Welcome to the club. As far a cookies and temporary internet files go... I prefer to clean things up once in awhile by going to the "tools" "internet options" tabs and deleting history and temporary files which tend to clutter the computer and slow it down. Good comments Sycamore... I agree. This incident was indeed, unfortunate, but trying to place the blame elsewhere and suggest legal action is so typical of today's society. People really need to take responsibiltiy for their own decisions and choices, good or bad. Suggesting that Mike Castro, the boyfriend, or the USFS or BLM is responsible is.... irresponsible. Most excellent photos, Wizard! That majik picture machine of yours is really getting a work out. (Along with all the folks who joined you on the hike!)by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that the Womb is the largest and deepest of the pools. Perhaps the water tends to get a bit more stagnent than the other smaller pools. Isn't the only source of water coming from the Anniversary Pool above? I can't remember if there is another source coming from below or from the rocks above the womb. Or another question might be... So what is the current prognosis? Did we really wind up with a "Dead Hotspringer?"by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That is such a tragedy, LaughingBear. And so needless. But I have seen so many people over the years, traveling in to the springs unprepared for a day in the wilderness. It is amazing how different the weather can be there just one day after another. I enjoyed a great day at the Springs with the Wizard and a few others on Friday, last. Nice, warm and sunny, got a bit of a sun burn on my lillby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Snow geese are certainly a possibiltiy. Another... are swans. About the same size and same migratory patterns of Snow Geese in both your area, and here in Utah.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Your birthday?!?! Cool! I'll bet I can guess... it's a Prime Number! I'll be attending the 25th Wedding Anniversary party for some good friends on the evening of the 31st. Think I can talk the party in starting early at DCHS??!?!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yeee-haah! You folks enjoy your soaks! Just don't get your bare butt's too wrinkled in da water! There's a good chance I may be able to be in town and join in the phun (er... fun) at the springs on Friday the 30th or Saturday th 31st.... or both! Thanks Brother Bear and Paul. Let's hope that things open soon and that those who desrespect the place, the law, the closure and the camping restrictions will start to get a clue.
