Thank you, Ron, for being a voice of reason in all this. You have reiterated the point I was trying to make in my "What Are You Thinking?" posts back in January (you can still find them if you click on "Older Messages" and go back far enough).
My first introduction to Deep Creek before I ever actually visited the springs was the DCHS website and then this forum. First impressions count for a lot, and my first impression was "whoa, do I really want to go to this place?" and then "this woman (katrina) must really want vengence". She keeps claiming she doesn't, but you certainly can't tell that from the website. I pointed out in the previous post -- and still firmly believe -- that if the Forest Service wants a reason to shut the place down, all the acrimony and vengence and emotion displayed on the website and in this forum would be all they need. I also mentioned, as did someone else just recently (maybe it was Jona) that the cartoons on the website are "in poor taste". They may be true, but that doesn't make it right. I was rebutted in that statement with "the author of the cartoons was simply expressing his right to free speech". Well, with freedom comes responsibility, and the reposnsible thing is not to stoop to the level of the person you are criticizing.
Again I will say: I grant you that it is entirely possible that everything katrina alleges may be entirely true. But the way in which it is presented is wrong and, I feel, actually acts counter to its intended purpose. All of this can only hurt Deep Creek, not help it. I can only wonder how many times how many people will have to say it before other people start to listen.
