There are many associations that work with public land agencies. The San Gorgonio Wilderness Association, the Yosemite Association, the National Forest Association. Their goals are simple and direct, to work with the agency in educating the public, to provide monitary support. They usually get their funding from donors, book sales in the visitor centers, and membership fees. From my experience they usually work quite well, and do an effective job in educating the public.
Put simply: DCHS inc. is not such a group. Associations should be focused on protecting the land and educating the public. These other associations are ran by a board of directors and recieve input by voting by its members. This keeps it running smoothly and professionaly. DCHS inc. is focused on mike castro issues. It has a vested interest in a particular legal political outcome, and it stands to gain over their desired outcome. Because of this DCHS inc. is not a good neutral group to represent the public in regards to the preservation of DCHS. What we need is a group of people focused on the preservation of DCHS itself.
Jobe, this is a web board. We type, and type. You dont know who I am or what I have done or not done to help DCHS. You havent seen all the days over the years I have packed out trash bags of trash I collected. The days scraping human @!#$ off of rocks or piles under bushes. You havent seen me scraping wax off of the rock in the womb. I have done all this and more. More of us put our actions where are words are than you may think.
