Got flashbacks of The Blue Lagoon. I was still a kid when it hit VHS (or was it Beta) but my eyes were glued to the screen. Brooke Shields ... almost 48. Sigh.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Glad they found him. I've eaten an alligator, never a lizard. Probably tastes like tough chicken cooked. http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/S-F-man-lost-in-woods-survives-on-squirrels-4892887.phpby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Reading her words, I think the author would have appreciated her story being preserved and shared with future visitors. Makes it interesting to visualize yourself back in the day. "I passed out several times from loss of blood and each time I did the doctor would give me a slug of whiskey from a bottle ...". I guess back then medicine was 75% art and 20% witchcraft.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Interesting for me it was hot milk with honey and crushed garlic. I was born in the mid 70s but we still used to get raw milk from cows daily, in steel buckets, at my great grand mother's farm. Garlic I can understand along with a hot liquid. Kind of like hot chicken soup, nothing magical about a dead chicken, but the warm water may help warm up the body. I also recall getting cupping fire therapby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
By the way, here's my recipe for fighting the flu. Rather simple but it comes back to soaking in a hot water source in 30 minute intervals throughout the day, in this case the best I have is my hot tub in lieu of the springs, followed by 10 minutes in the sauna shed, followed by a warm to cool shower, then sleep two hours ... and repeat. Before soaking, I apply menthol under my nose for congestioby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I wish they made a huge ass version of the sterilizer pen you get at REI that you can just stick in for 45 seconds and kill everything you can't see. Interesting though isn't it that the very first case in the state and fatality originated there. Still no reason to stop going obviously. Rick I'll save a double post. Well, if I understand your post, you are correct, save for the part about me having caught that specific bug :-). In terms of where the kid got the bug from, I am a man of science and those of us who work in the field will never admit to anything with 100% certainty, we base everything on empirical evidence and keep adjusting findings based on updated research and available information/facts. I'm sure someone was down there and may be able to provide confirmation. On a side note my sister recently finished a trek in Central America, solo in most cases, and I hooked her up with one of these before she left ... she originally just wanted to send text messages via cell but I won the battle: http://www.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=100 Works great, battery lasts 10 days and small priby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Assuming he drove in and left a vehicle? If it was via Bowen, should be easy enough to verify by car type. Also there is no terrestrial mobile phone coverage in the ravine so keeping in touch is impossible.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It has happened at DCHS ... twice. I can't sleep tonight due to a nasty flu and did some research into medical journals, partly because they are such page turners and do a good job of putting me to sleep. The first case was fatal and happened in 71. The second one involved a 9 year old girl who was treated successfully in 82. She was admitted unresponsive to SB County Hospital and then transferreby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks. Or wait until the Google Books initiative takes care of it, but highly unlikely! Google Books is an interesting project. They don't seem to care about copyright of anything because they have more money and influence than all the publishers combined and believe all knowledge should be fair use. Their approach is we'll scan it, and if you have a problem, sue ... then we'll drown you in cby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Do you know the person behind this site? Neogeo may be able to confirm if they have transferred any copies onto the microfilm if anything. http://members.peak.org/~skinncr/hotsprings/hsg.htmlby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
True. Actually your post was the tipping point for going ahead and ordering a copy, especially given lack of copyright. I may just do it myself. The Amazon copy appeared to be in slightly poorer shape with pages that broke from the spine so I didn't want to pay that price if a lower one was available. That's because I bought it :-) I'm looking at book scanning services but some destroy the book in order to get a good quality scan, aside from the ones that use commercial v-shaped scanners. I don't want to destroy the book, just share it electronically. If anyone knows of a quality service in the greaterby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Apparently the average wait time is about 1-2 weeks, in some cases longer. Hence patience I guess. I think what should happen if they approve it is that all your photos marked as "safe" would be made available and searchable again to the general public, but the marked ones, if someone was attempting to view them, would require a login and age confirmation.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I eat out frequently as I travel a lot and will admit I don't think twice about the straws that restaurants put in my drink. Came across this one and it makes sense. Unfortunately plastic lives forever. Watch the video if you have some time. If you go to google.com, then in the black banner bar, select Images instead of Search, and type in "deep creek hot springs", it's evident the number of nude photos that google has indexed. But we must protect the children :-) War, homicide, corruption ... that's all okay, but nudity ... anything but nudity! I'll refrain from quoting George Carlin. A few months ago I used a more seamless way to transfer files between two different services, bypassing the need to download and upload again. The service below does it point to point. Very easy to use. You just set it up and let it run over the Web and when complete, you'll get a notification email. In addition to this, there are a few other alternatives as well that do the same thing. http:/by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard I did a quick test. Follow these steps: 1. After logging into Flickr, go to your batch organizer page here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/organize 2. You will see all your photos at the bottom of the screen like this. 3. Now drag all your "full frontal" pictures to the pane above. Here I have selected the sunset photo as the one I want to flag. 4. It's kind of a recurring theme, but of all the review sites, professional photographers appear to be moving their stuff to 500px.com, a Toronto-based company. I like the layout, very clean. However, it's less of a social-driven site, at least for now. 500px has a single "nude" checkbox, but I find it funny that photographers ignore it anyhow as they don't consider it nude but art. I'm not sure what is more frightening. A publicly traded company or the government determining what is indecent. Flickr used to be a Canadian company. After being bought over and content moved south of the border, things changed. It appears they want to, pardon the pun, cover their ass.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I like Paul's suggestion of writing them to challenge it. You never know. When I was applying for schools I got a rejection letter from the one program I really wanted to get into. So having nothing to lose I wrote them a letter back, tactfully rejecting their rejection letter stating reasons why. Two weeks before the semester started they called me in for a meeting. They reversed the decision :-by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'm confused by Scenario 11. So fair use applies to "limited" sharing but not "unlimited" sharing ... very vague, where is the fine line. For example, if I publish on the Web to a limited audience using a password, does that qualify. Anyhow assuming there were no copyright clauses in this specific book, then technically wouldn't publishing on the Web be reasonable.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
If you still have a copy, it is worth just shy of $100 in used condition. I have read the threads from a few years back about sharing a copy digitally. The rules are somewhat complex around this, given that the author is the publisher and is deceased. I guess further research is needed. What I do know is that anything published in the US before the 1920's is public domain, but this one was puby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Risk for women obviously and arguably a catalyst for a urinary infection. In fact women are more at risk in general. I recall my sister got infected from swimming in one of the great lakes when we were in high school. One week in the hospital on antibiotic IV was the result. But why would you want to?
