Well, if I understand your post, you are correct, save for the part about me having caught that specific bug :-). In terms of where the kid got the bug from, I am a man of science and those of us who work in the field will never admit to anything with 100% certainty, we base everything on empirical evidence and keep adjusting findings based on updated research and available information/facts. Even with today's technology, I will go on record to say medicine is still at best 75% science, 20% art and 5% witchcraft, with some fields exhibiting larger portions of each pie than others. Most of these papers are about outcomes given the treatment regimen applied and less about the exact location of where the person ingested the source as this usually comes from third party accounts. However, both articles in black and white mention DCHS, well at least the 82 case spells it out while the 71 case alludes to it. I did manage to find a public copy of the 71 case which ended in a fatality. It was a 16 year old girl. Here you go:
