This belongs to Neal S and is from Yelp but worth sharing. Shame that it was his first visit to have to deal with this. The link didn't work correctly, so direct paste. Neal S. Los Angeles, CA 3.0 star rating 7/8/2013 This place was recommended to me years ago by a good girlfriend that swore by it so of course i was all over it: the first trip ALL THE WAY there from LA they closed it dueby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Someone sent me this image as a slideshow. It didn't have any heading but looks like a great place for a swim. Did a reverse image search and voila ... Mexico, Yucatan peninsula. Too bad we don't have something like this out here outside of Hawaii.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I tracked down the person behind this video ... his name, city, and contact info and every piece of work he has done professionally ... also have a photo of him. Sent him an inquiry. He is an artist and has a legit client base, specifically in the Vietnamese community. Although easy to track will not post this information here until determine his side of the case.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The hiking au natural in 27F weather part - link to the blog, very hard core. I guess the map content is as good as user contributions and assume some springs would best be kept off the map. I have visited Tofino back in '07. That region is a geothermal zone up and down the island coast, worth visiting.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I searched this forum and it looks like this has not been shared yet. Quick and useful. http://www.communitywalk.com/clothing-optional-placesby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
On the studentreader site, the upper pool is labelled as the Anniversary/Wizard pool, so thought it would be good to stick with a similar label for consistency, but then again it is technically the upper pool. Also, if people believe Bowen Ranch stretches down to include the springs and river, they may believe the $5 gate funds are keeping the area clean. My mind races at 100 mph, it has since Iby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yes I sent a short email to the editor suggesting to make corrections. Another blog ... do you want to tell Naomi the upper pool is the Wizard pool named after its builder at the turn of the century, currently maintained by the proceeds from Bowen Ranch parking/camping fees :-) Sorry I have a dry sense of humor. http://naomivandoren.com/deep-creek-hot-springs/by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
First one is older but worth a read. DCHS is referenced. Second one more recent, hopefully by a reader of this forum. http://www.cityweekly.net/utah/article-217-12007-all-warm-some-naked-utahs-hot-springs.html?current_page=all http://tsl.pomona.edu/articles/2013/5/3/feature/4026-deep-creek-hot-springsby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I calculated a figure of about $7000 annually on the conservative side using today's pricing.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Never had an issue with him but then I am not a local or "every weekend" regular and most of the times have encountered his neighbor/friend instead. I look at it as the Soup Nazi character from Seinfeld. Follow the rules and you are fine, especially the posted entry times. The rest is common sense.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I recall watching TV series as a kid where they would suck out the venom from a flesh wound and spit it out afte a bite. Then an article came out in the last two decades that it's bad practice and ineffective.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
If bitten by a snake would rather it happen in Mexico where the same anti-venom is $100. Here if you have good insurance you should be fine. The bill presented to an insurer is almost always not what is paid. The insurance company decides the final amount not the hospital. It is billed by code not by dollar amount.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well we are still here. Blacks that is. Starting to cool off slowly. Not sure if you had a chance to make it and if so, if you saw the lifeguard rescue at about 4:30. It took him under a minute to get to her, throw her on top of the board and bring her in. Well at least he got a hug and she got to live another day. Great day at the beach.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
We'll probably head there over the next two days. I guess on this continent we have the slightly potent version of the Jellyfish. I recall playing with them in the Baltic Sea as a kid, but of course they were the harmless variety. On the other hand, I believe the ones in Australia arguably are the deadliest animal on earth. Beautiful beaches but you cannot swim.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I still recall the swine flu scare. I was on a flight from Chicago to Toronto and there were literally only 18 of us on a wide body aircraft (that's the one with the 2-4-2 seat arrangement. Upon landing at the airport, customs was wearing masks and rubber gloves. As I work at hospitals, you can imagine the scene when I arrived. You have some of the best quality reports. Find them very useful. In terms of trash, I think what juliankaye was stating is that there is no permanent solution. Fines are not a deterrent if rarely enforced ... and it's obvious nobody cares about signs there otherwise they would not be camping. Personally I think if there was enforcement, a better solution if someone is caught is have them serby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuotejobeThe contemplation pool was full of beautiful naked women so I edged my way in to get the temp there. I got into a long talk with one of the beauties there that lasted the rest of the day. The temp there was 95 degrees. The women there seemed to make it a lot hotter than it WAS ;~) So does this mean the adjusted temperature really was 100 because of these women and would it have been 90by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Although water is a great form of hydration, after a long hike, I down one serving each of coconut water and chocolate milk. Coconut water provides a potassium hit while the latter carbs and protein. Combined they accelerate recovery. I stay away from sport drinks. Pure salt does wonders as well.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yeah you can't use scented warming love lotions in the woods Paul :-) I'm kidding, but Yosemite has some strict rules. I change out of the clothes I use to cook dinner before heading to sleep. I believe if one is responsible for contributing to having the rangers put down a bear because it became aggressive as a result something one did, the fine is in the thousands. For wildlife though, I thinkby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That's impressive. The most I ever did was 2 months for three summers in a row. In high school I was a camp chef for the youngest of the three groups. We slept in those teepees made out of canvas that were prone to rain and were very hot during the humid summers on the east coast. No shower facilities as well although we did have washing stations and of course swimming in the lake was an option.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I personally use an older version of this one and love it. It folds down into virtually nothing. Well worth the price. Camping tech has changed so much over the last two decades. I still recall packing a canoe full of canned food, heavy sleeping bag and a less than perfect tent. Glad those days are over. http://www.rei.com/product/830342/msr-whisperlite-universal-backpacking-stoveby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Undergrad was pretty much a blur for me. Studied smart but partied harder. Best years of my life on many levels. Studies after were kind of boring in comparison. Stanford is a great school academically just didn't have the same spirit save a few sporting events, so instead I would head over to Cal to unwind. I'm not sure the signs would have much effect considering the target audience. It makeby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Those who indulge in vandalism or illegal graffiti are largely young people who under-achieve at school. Add in boredom, alienation, family and community breakdown, lack of leisure opportunities and youth unemployment ... and on and on. Complex root cause. Not the brightest bulbs at the lamp factory. I guess if you can't make it to DCHS you can imagine a virtual trip from home. Next time I should include the full trip down, river crossing and climb into the pool. If anything, if you never been, this shows what to at least expect on the trail from Bowen Ranch.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I didn't count but zooming in on the photo it looks like 7 but someone added their own trash. Today was way too hot on the trail so hopefully when it cools off it will be easier to carry out. My car read 113F but then it was sitting in the sun and it's a dark color. There was a group of nice young folks who carried out their trash so there is hope.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
This was the state late afternoon ... not sure how many were there originally. Collected some trash from the trail on the way up and behind the rocks as I brought my own bag. If I recall there were two bags hanging from the sign on the southern beach.by mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I don't necessarily agree with how they sampled certain data sets and the resulting conclusions, but here is a detailed paper. http://www.kab.org/site/DocServer/KAB_Report_Final_2.pdf?docID=4581 Also this is interesting from an Australian study ... Five types of people with respect to litter: Non-litterers - environmentally conscious, don't litter and usually pick up litter of othersby mohave - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That is unfortunate as the trail from that beach to the parking lot is so short, even if you go the alternate way, so there is no excuse to dump trash in the bushes. I did like SLO on my second visit there, but the favorite is still that certain Nevada side beach at Lake Tahoe ... well, Black's a close second on a good day after Paul was so convincing to check it out and glad we did.
