Interesting for me it was hot milk with honey and crushed garlic. I was born in the mid 70s but we still used to get raw milk from cows daily, in steel buckets, at my great grand mother's farm. Garlic I can understand along with a hot liquid. Kind of like hot chicken soup, nothing magical about a dead chicken, but the warm water may help warm up the body. I also recall getting cupping fire therapy (look it up) ... which in my opinion borders on medieval witchcraft, no therapeutic value aside from that it looks cool especially in the dark, but then again if there is it is likely psychological.
