DCR, On the subject of Castro and electricity, Paul then commented that he was being facetious " joking at an inappropriate time ". I'd say that he agrees with you :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Viejo, I like " bring able " to not wear clothes too :-) Of course its a clear that I must have been asleep in class when it comes to grammer and spelling. I did get an A+ from MP for a new word I created. I feel so proud :-) Anyway I like the idea you suggested in the last part of your post above. All this talk on the forum is well and good but it will not change anything unless it isby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
MP, actually I see that word to be derived from " response " and " commonsense ". Ah, a Fruedian slip, sounds like fun :-) As for the A+, highest graded I've ever earned, I'll take it :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yes, I have taken a photo of these elusive and shy people! I had to lay in wait for hours in the nearby brush to get one good picture. Wild and free, they slathered thierselves in thick black mud. As I reached for my Magic Cup O Wine they scattered like small rodents back into the hills to that place they call, The Bowen Ranch. Was it just a dream :-) Ok, Ok I'll cut the crap :-) They were just cby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I think this is about as open as it gets. Haven't heard of anyone getting deleted lately. So as it goes, there will be a wide variety of types of responses here. AZ, You are free to speak your mind and Rick is free to speak his also. Of course it would be nice if we were all civil and respectful to eachother at all times but as in life, that is not always the case here either. DCR, Oh you know, its just the same old fun here at the forum and I'm " ashamed " to say that I'm enjoying the give and take of the friendly souls who come along to share thier own thoughts here :-) Thought you had disappeared into a black hole somewhere. Good to hear your OK and having to much fun to boot :-) Actually I was out enjoying nature last weekend up at our property in Reddingby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Mp, I don't think Jobe thinks he got the virus from this website. I'll bet he thinks it came from some one involved with Mike Castro who is trying to stop him from posting. Is that right Jobe? You know, I've always said that mispeling words and bad gramer is always more fun that getting it right, especially here on the forum :-) I smell and english teacher in you Mp :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Star, all I'm seeing in this thread is talk about who owns the Bowen Ranch house and whats under the house. Hmmmm, maybe there is something under there we should know about :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
AZ, I would say you are accurate in what you stated. People who do bad things to the springs come through all ways of access to DCHS. I was pointing out that the Bowen Ranch is a conduit of flow for these negative people just as the other routes are. When talking about these problems the Bowen Ranch should be considered also. I know that alot of good folks go through the Ranch and many who do a fby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well Impartial, we obviously don't see things the same way on this forum discussion issue. I,m sure you will be the first one to tell me I told you so if the Forest Service ever closes the springs someday stating " The DCHS forum made me do it " :-) So Mike Castro is claiming the 5th on this one. Kinda like those enron boys :-) Well he has the same opportunity as anyone else to make hiby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Cred, You really like that word ashamed :-) You must be tied to the Bowen crowd since you continue to insist that somehow the fact that the route 3 trail exist ( and is hiked by, I must say, a very few people ) that somehow this is the one thing, in all the years of the publics visitation of DCHS that will cause the Forestry Dept. to throw up thier hands and decry the springs are now closed. Who owns or occupies the Bowen Ranch building will work its way out, one way or the other, it time. People will most likely continue to discuss the relavent issues surrounding this topic but I don't think that will alter much the path Katrina is traveling to address that issue. Aside from that topic I am encouraged to see alot of good discussion and the sharing of veiwpoints that has developed reby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Impartial, Lets look at a statement in your last post " Do I suggest that we not talk about any of this? Of course not. ". This statement and the use of the word " any " implies that we " should " be able to express ourselves here. Now lets look at another statement in your previous post " still firmly believe that if the Forest Service wants a reason to shut thby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Randy, So these idiots came from the ranch. As I said before, the fact that a fee is taken at the Bowen Ranch does not mean that it is an effective screen to people who do the negative things to the springs. I except that the access situation around DCHS may be altered in the future to help in preserving its environment. The Bowen Ranch is the main conduit of traffic to the springs and if decisioby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Thats an excellent explantation Katrina. The aquisition of the rights to the Bowen Ranch and surrounding easement shows itself to be ( to my mind ) nothing more sinister than a simple transfer of ownership rights. I know arguments will continue as to the intentions of DCHS Inc but they appear to have aquired these ownership rights in a completely legal manner. The Forestry Dept. will not close DCHS because of what is said here. To do something like that would lack any common sense. Written words do not do the deed of degrading the springs. Peoples actions do. The Forestry Dept. will be watching actions at and around the springs. What do you suggest, that people stop expressing thier veiws here. Strong feelings are felt on these issues and there is nothby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Nice post Alan and thanks for your thoughts :-) The sharing of the many points of veiw concerning DCHS and its problems is, I believe, an important first step in the journey towards finding reasonable solutions.by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
There ya go with that " ashamed " thing again. Ya ever heard of not beating a dead horse to much! Your putting everybody to sleep with that stuff, and by the way, I'm not really clear by reading your last post on what I am supposed to be " ashamed of this time :-) Actually the switchbacks were made by small rodents, frogs and rabbits, cows are much to big for this job :-) I think iby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Cred, You said something " seriously " wrong, demeaning and acusatory! Shame, shame, shame, is this some vestige of remeberances from your childhood when your parents said this to you over and over :-) I feel no shame for " anything " I have done for, and at, DCHS over the years. Incredulous, That name is way too long. I'm going to call you Cred to make things " easy " :-) You spoke in an earlier post about the idea that the best things in life are " sometimes " not the easiest to obtain, referencing the act of accessing DCHS. The hike To DCHS from the Route 3 trail is almost identical in time to the hike from the Forestry parking lot. So there is no lby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Incredulous, I was informed around Christmas this year that Mike Castro had told the Forestry Dept that I had built the Route 3 trail. Brad Burns ( Forestry Dept. ) was the person who called me and I informed him that Mike Castro was mistaken in describing me as the builder of this trail. Its not " my " trail and " I " didn't build it, period. I have told a number of peopleby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You bet Jona :-) Great work on that post, your sentiments our well taken and I couldn't agree more with your thoughtful description of OZ. After the recent run on this forum of serious talk and ill will being bantered back and forth I found your peice very refreshing. Ron, Great Report! Thanks for taking time out of your DCHS visit to pick up trash. Doing clean up like that is one big way to help make the springs area nicer for everyone and I truly appreciate your efforts :-) If everyone can bring a trash bag and just spend 15 minute or so in scouting around for trash it does wonders in keeping the trash situation in check. Jona, I think your suggestion may be necesary in the future but for the time being I don't think the level of problems currently at DCHS would warrant these actions. I personally am satisfied with the present access situation regarding the springs. Of course everyone has a differant take on these issues and they are free to express thier concerns and try to affect change for the problems associatby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Informed, People can hike " anywhere " in the forestry lands around DCHS. The public does not have to stay on established trails. If this is a problem for you, take it up with the Forestry Dept. I will hike with my kids any legal route I choose. You say discussion on this forum will shut down the springs, you make me laugh :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Incredulous, Its very simple. The public has a right to access thier public lands. There have been many roads on the Northern Side of DCHS that have been closed over the years because of various reasons. Now route 4 to 3 is the remaining open public access route that brings you anywhere close to the springs from the north.
