I have known Wizard for over a year and a half know. During that time I have had about a dozen or more opportunities to observe the interaction of both him and his wife with their children. Never have a seen any inappropiate behavior. Quite to the contrary, I have seen them act as two concerned and caring parents protecting these children. Well it looks like we have consensus. I will mail the letter tomorrow with Sycamore's revision to item 3. Jobe, the USFS folks are trying to do their job under the constraints of a limited budget, severe staff limitations, required goverment red tape, and a severe fire danger created by the drought and bark beetle. Let's cut them a break and keep the criticism constructive. The reason for DCVby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Laughing Bear, We already listened to what Ranger Brad had to say. Remember the conversation that I emailed to all members on June 3rd and posted on the Forum on June 11. In your reply to that post you appear to support the idea of the letter and working with the USFS. I am also OK with Sycamore's change to item #3, but I really feel we should send the letter after the weeks review. I spokeby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Sycamore. Even if personally we don't believe that the erosion danger is real, the USFS does. Therefore we should work together to reduce the posibility of erosion and the impact on the environment.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Sycamore you are correct, members that did not attend a meeting have a week to post their vote. In fact the wording we used in our internal document is: "All issues discussed at a meeting will be posted on the Forum and non-attending members will have one week to post their vote or post their input." We posted the intention to send the letters after our June meeting and I don't recaby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

As mentioned by Sycamore in the minutes of our July meeting, the following is the text of the message we received from Vince, who joined our group during our June meeting" "Ron - I wish I could make it to this meeting. I will try to make one meeting a year, but it will most likely be the last one in June as it was this year. I had a great time sitting in on that meeting. Thanks Sycamore for the minutes. Great job. I feel that the first two post adequately represent all that was discussed at the meeting. In the later posts Sycamore makes it real clear that it is her opinion. I am posting this from the office but will post Vince's letter and the letter to the USFS this evening when I get home (probably in separate posts). Ah! Nothing like that warm fuzzy feeling of positive vibes emanating from this website! I have not been reading it this month but it doesn't look like I missed much. It's kind of like a soap opera, you can skip a month, come back and take up exactly where you left off. Look forward to seeing you all Saturday. Remember the attire is clothing optional, and let's leave all weapons and grudges wiby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Deep Creek Volunteers will be meeting as usual this last Saturday of the month. We might try and keep this meeting short and work on some local project. Here is the proposed agenda that can be adjusted based on your suggestions. 1) Membership changes 2) Proposed wording of the letter to the USFS pursuant to item #4 from last months minutes 3) Suggestions for future projects 4) Other issuby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Paul P. has emailed me and suggested that I put out a report regarding last Saturday's picnic at San Onofre, so here it goes. The picnic was a sucess. It was attended by a group from Black's Beach Bares, Friends of San Onofre, Naturally California, Camping Bares and myself from DCV. The Balcks Beach team was down by 8:30 and Allen from FOSO and I arrived around 9:00. Shorthly after we set upby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Great idea Sycamore. We will probably need a little direction from AZ Mike. Let's discuss the proposal at our next meeting but anyone that would like to volunteer or share their thoughts on this forum, please do so.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, However we want to play the words, Gary is correct the USFS will issue citations if you are caught on PCT with a bicycle. I actually rode in once myself years back just after a snow storm down to 3,000 feet and it was great. But those were the days before the Willow fire, the land slides on the trail and when you could still park at the spillway and it was relatively safe. To all those interested in participating in the Deep Creek Volunteers meeting it will be held tomorrow down at the springs close to the Arizona pool at aproximately 1:00 p.m. The agenda will be: 1) Membership update 2) Quick update on the website 3) Discussion of the USFS cutting of vegetation on the trail from JF3 and possible ways our group can help. 4) Other subjects See you all tby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Pursuant to our DCV meeting last week I did discuss the bush cutting issue on the trail that comes from JF3 with the USFS. Actually Ranger Brad called me to discus the issue. The USFS took full responsibility for the cutting of the brush. It was an authrorized attempt to try and reduce the use of that trail. They had also piled the rocks at the begining of the trail the week before. This isby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I received an email yesterday from the Black's Beach webmaster. He was heading to DCV to escape the June gloom, so I dropped everything else and went up to meet him. What a better place to discuss setting up DCV webpages than at the hot springs themselves? On the way down I replenshed about 40 brochures in the box which was empty at the time. I guess it might be a challange to keep the box suby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks SycamoreLaughing for posting the minutes. Here are a few other details I recall: 2) We also discussed that the cover sheet that we put on the box was higher than the folder brochures that were sitting inside the box. We discussed raising the level of the brochures with a peice of folded cardboard or removing the cover page completely. We decided on this last item for know. I agree with Wizard, Gary and DCR. Even when the trail is dry, in some areas the soil is so soft that the horses leave about four inch deep hoof prints. Most bicycles do not leave real deep tracks. Of course every now and then you get a yahoo on bicycle that insist on jaming his brakes and skidding that is nearly as destructive as the dirt bikes. A responsible rider can control this, while aby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Today DCV will be holding its May meeting. Here is the agenda: 1) Membership Changes since last meeting 2) Up date on Brochure Box Request to USFS 3) Logo - Update on Ronnie and Gary's meeting and where do we go from here 4) Website 5) Proposed wording for sign down at the springs 6) Date and location of June meeting 7) Other issues - Proposal of projects to work on at the springs afterby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Gary, you crack me up. I had a great day with you at the springs. I have not yet had a chance to check out the CD but hope to do so at work this week.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Wizard and Gary for the new photos and imortalizing all those beautiful flowers out there! I see Gary that you were able to get the shot at water level from the Arizona pool in spite of your memory being full.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Paul P. Thanks for your feedback and support. I will accept whatever families want to volunteer. It must be their choice. If it is more than one great. If they are not from the area that is fine as well. If Kevin and Tanya's family want to participate they would be welcome as well. I would like to reflect a true family clothing optional environment.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well, I have been trying to get my dog to shake on cue for many years and have not been sucessful so far. Just ask Wizard, he received a few showers last Saturday. Any trained volunteer dogs out there?by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Gary and I were able to hook up at the springs today. I got there around 10:15 and found Gary and Ken (from Boeing) soaking in the womb. The day was rather windy, but we were able to beat the storm and there was hazy sunshine all day. I ended up getting more sunburnt than I had anticipated and even had to pull out the sun lotion towards the end. LaughingBear, Thanks for the heads up. For those of us without a full history in the area, would you mind defining where family canyon exactly is? I remember seeing more than one canyon in that area last time I hiked in. It also might be nice if you share how it got to be known as family canyon. Thanks.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Sycamore and Paul for posting the minutes. I would like to just clarify a few points. 1) The sign that Sycamore mentions will be on the box where the brochures will be at the trailhead. It will just be on the inside (facing out) of the acrylic box that Van is getting. 2) Logo: It was also mentioned that it should represent as much as possible what is described in our mission statementby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard, I can't believe I did that. I had first put May, realize my error and went back and changed it. Can't believe I changed it forward instead of back.
