DCR, I know the spot which you describe. If you were to follow that same barbed wire fence up hill along the ridge it follows you would eventually come to the place I'm talking about where the trail from my car first meets this barbed wire fence. I used to follow the fence down this ridge to the point your talking about but found that if I cut left down a small ravine at the bottom of the first downhill section after meeting this fence that the Bowen trail was closer and easier to get to. The point where I meet the barbed wire fence to the Bowen trail is the steepest section of this route I'm describing. It only takes me about a minute or two to go down this section and maybe 3 or 4 minutes to go up. For me its a small price to pay for the close access and a nice view the whole way down :-)
