Yes, I remember you. I was on the 'island' for most of the day.

I guess I'm somewhat relieved that I didn't miss an obvious way down & up the ridge, but I don't think I went down or up the route you mentioned. On the way up I certainly came up on the trail to the right, and it was quite a climb. After relaxing in the water it sure would be nice if there was an easier way back.

I'm from Toronto and was just in LA for the weekend, so I probably won't be back until next spring. When I do visit I'm going to try the route in from the spillway; it also sounds like a nice hike. I'm thinking of overnighting further down the PCT so that I can do some day hikes in the area. Its a great area to explore.
