What is really obvious was the deceitful way that the BLM withheld this information from the public even though they were holding public meetings all the time. I attended those public meetings and even the most recent one no one from the BLM mentioned any fee demo program. They knew they were planning to do this. I object to their hiding their plan to implement the fee demo program.
Maybe people would support the plan if they knew the benefits that they would receive for their money. The point is these plans should have been made known to the public during these meetings.
I heard about this and how the announcement went down. On a Friday afternoon, Tim Read called the County Supervisor's Office representative Bob Smith and told him, "Bob, I'm going to make your day." and proceeded to tell him about the new fee demo plan that was going into effect.
No one knew about this fee demo program, even CORVA (California Off Road Vehicle Association) Ed Waldheim didn't know about this fee demo program.
The BLM are supposed to have public meetings, have their management plans open to the public, allow public comment, consider the public comment, and so on. The BLM have been creating the WEMO Plan for ten years and holding regular meetings. Did you know about any of these meetings? Did private land owners get notified?
Bureau of Land Manipulation or Bureau of Land Management? These plans will affect how people can enjoy the land, how private land owners can use their land, the process for developers to follow, and the future of the wilderness in the area. Their Proposed Management Plan has been released to the public and the public has a limited time to make any public comment.
I received a copy of the management plan. It is huge thick and we are reviewing it. There are maps on CD's that came with the Plan.
I realize that the Forest Service has the majority control over the future of the hotsprings and their proposed management plan is coming out soon. You will have a period of time to comment and they will hold public meetings again.
Anyway, like no time other in the history of Deep Creek is there such a monumental change in how our public lands are being reviewed, analyzed, discussed, etc. Major changes are ahead. I hope you will want to participate in planning the future of Deep Creek. People are talking about these subjects right now.
