I am a DCHS newbie with only 2 visits under my belt, and both times I've paid the guy at Bowen and parked there with no incidents. The trail down is a little bit tricky at one or two places but for the most part it's not too bad of a hike going down. What are the other options for parking places? What are the hikes in to the springs like from those other places? Can you access the trail that starts near Bowen from some other parking lot or does parking elsewhere necessitate using one of the other trails? I apologize if any or all of this info has been posted before but I'm new to the springs and to this site. I certainly don't want my windows busted but at the same time, this guy sounds like a major jackass to say the least.
I myself hike in on the bradford ridge side but I guess what everyones saying is that there is another place to park close to bowen ranch but you need 4x4 and supposedly the owners at bowen ranch are getting greedy and want to make all the money off everyone, so they might be the ones vandalising cars that dont park and pay in their lot
