In thinking here for a bit after doing my last post it comes to mind that I have heard a lot of folks talk about the idea that this article that MR. Berg wrote was a form of advertisement for DCHS. Many of us felt that DCHS was put in a negative light that did not truly reflect the real nature of the place. Now if another story was done by MR. Berg, wouldn't that be further advertisement and in doing a story that showed DCHS to be a positive rewarding place to visit wouldn't that just add to the population down there which inherently creates problems. Now I know there are some in our group that would say that I'm one to talk about advertisement in veiw that I provided information about the open routes in various post I did here on the forum. I can say at least this, as of the present and by my experience the usage of the open routes for access to DCHS is very limited and I don't think that will change too much being that the areas of the open routes are remote and the recent shootings at the JF3 parking area I feel has affected peoples interest in using the routes for access. Since those shootings I have not seen any cars parked there and I have been parking elsewhere. I have in talking to differant people begun to return to my earlier feelings before I began becoming involved with this forum that any type of " advertisement " will inevitably draw more visitors. Each person will have to decide where they feel its best to draw the line and basically various forms of advertisement that have come before like books, internet information etc. cannot be changed. We cannot ultimatly stop other visitors who will choose to share information by the various mediums but perhaps it may be best to take on a policy within our group to try and limit the ways, we at least, will expose DCHS to further visitation. It is the publics right to visit these forest areas but that doesn't mean we, as a group, are obligated to point the way and provide information. AZ I like the idea of representing DCHS in a good light, the place deserves it. I just thought the ideas I mentioned above may be something for us to consider.
