Wizard,
I thought you knew me long enough to know I am a lover not a disputer.
Last night, after posting those threads I studied Google earth. You can see the T-6 crossing bridge. The images have updated to Jan. 2006. You can not tell it is a bridge as it blends with the surrounding soil. But it is where Hook creek rd. crosses the creek. Even though it is not labeled such Deep creek IS Hook creek. But a small creek down stream a few thousand yards was supposed to be the real Deep creek.
Splinter's cabin was a cabin a few miles west on Squint's ranch rd. near where the airport is now. 20 something years ago when I first hung out near that area, there was a stone out house building at the end of Hook creek rd. This was an ancient toilet that had toilet seats with splinters in the seats. So the locals called that Splinter's cabin, back then. I am sure that stone building did not burn up. But, @ 10 years ago the forest service built a new out house building w/picnic tables next to that Splinter's cabin. Which may have burned up ?. The real Splinter's cabin was a few miles out on Squints ranch road near the now airport. Construction is still going on in that area.
Also using Google earth, you can see the Pacific crest trail just misses the T-6 crossing, it follows that other creek.
Also, what the guy here is calling Aztec falls is called the devil's hole on the Google image. Which is what the woman who first took me there 20 something years ago called it.
Maybe some day soon I will give you a tour. I also would like to show you THE Space rock that I told you about on our last hike. It is closer to your cabin and a real gem of a hike.
I hope that helps ? Peace, Love and Happy hikes :~)
