So yesturday me and my friends head up to deep creek, I think it's by aztec falls, it's at the very end of Hook Creek drive, the other cliff jumping spot.
Anywyas, when we get there at 10:00am there are already people by the bridge with their kids playing, on the hike up there were 2 fishermen fly fishing, I asked if he's had any lunk and he said he got 2, I talked to him a little more and he showed me how fly fishing worked, nice fella. Up the creek more there was a family of 4, father teaching his kids how to fish, but they had no luck. We get to the cliff jumping area and there were about 10 people, in 2 groups, family and their dog, a group of younger guys. Later on around 2:00 Another group of guys came with some beers, but they were not stupid drunks. They were doing backflips off the cliffs. Then 3 older peoples showed up, 1 girl 2 guys. They looked like they wanted to go nude but were stand offish at how many people were there. But they stood in the water for a good 30 minutes taking photos of the cliff jumpers. We also came in contact with 3 hikers who camped out since Thursday.
We stayed the night [there were 3 of us], hiked up the creek a few yards then went up side of the cliffs and walked a few yards, I'm not sure if it was exactly 1 mile from the creek, but I know it was questionable. We pitched our tent and drank a few cold ones, we put a backpack of beer in the creek for a few to get them cold We saw 2 satellites [or what we think were satellites, and 3 shooting stars. We really wish we could of had a campfire but knew the rules and risks.
The hike back was nice, we left around 12 or so. There were a about 15 people by the bridge, about 10 of them were guys on drit bikes.
We carried all our trash out and I even picked up a few that were reachable on the way out.
I noticed there was 1 graffiti figure on rocks, which is sad because last time we went up [3 weeks ago] there was nothing.
overall, great trip!
I'll try to make it to the hot spring pools next time.
