Come to my neck of the woods... 3 Degrees on the ridge while skiing at Snow Basin on Friday... Single digits on the drive to work both mornings this week... Colder than my former-mother-in-law's kiss.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hmm... this thread is starting to remind me of a scene from Jaws. You know, the scar comparison. Let me tell you about the day I jumped off a rock upstream from the springs and missjudged the distance to the ground... A little spinal cord compression... Now THAT was not a fun hike out... all Six miles to the Majove Forks dam.... damn!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Great Pictures Wizard! Thanks for sharing... It's been clear and cold and VERY dry here in northern Utah for Winter so far this year. Skiing over the Christmas break left a lot to be desired. Even the man-made snow was hard, icy and not much to write Santa about. But skiing is still better than work... And there's a forecast for snow later in the week. We're all doin' the snow dance dailyby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Sorry for the late reply... no Internet activity during the Holidays... And no White Christmas in Utah. Thought I was back in California with the sunny winter conditions and dry ground. At least I haven't had to shovel any snow from the driveway yet this year. We wish Colorado would send some of their white stuff our way.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all you Hot Springers/Hot Pottin' enthusiasts! Keep those Deep Creek Hot Springs trip reports comin!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Nice write up Wizard! I sure enjoyed the day at the springs. Glad I could help with the "Pack it Out" sign. Let's hope that some Hot Springers are intelligent enough to read, because a good number sure can't figure out how to properly take care of their own garbage. There sure was an eclectic mix of folks down there today. Lot’s of Oriental folks were hiking down the Bowen Ranchby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
A - hah! See! "Car" & "Bomb" in the same paragraph. That terrorsit Asama Bear IS a dangerous character! I hear the fire bombers engines reving up and the napalm being loaded even as we speak! The Village People are about to become a hit again! ;o)by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard, The sign looks very official! You have my approval ;o) (As if it matters...) Keep up the good work and best of luck to all you So-Cal-ites there in the smoldering caldera! Pray for rain... or repent... or both ) But whatever you do, don't get burned and stay out of the news!by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Awesome Pics Wizard! Oneathesedays... I just may get there. It will likely be the day when the world comes to an end... ;o) -Garyby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
And the great Wizard will never be the same... I wonder what the Black Rock Desert looks like after everyone packs up and goes back to their familiar haunts. Perhaps like the parking lot at the Oakland Colusiem after the tailgate parties at a Raiders game???by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Go on a weekend rather than a weekday... Big difference.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Really?!?!? So THAT's what's been causing the haze and crud in the skies here in Northern Utah? At our Wednesday night softball game, you could hardly see the Wasatch Mountains through all the gunk in the air... on a cloudless day. Dang! California is affecting us again! ;o) Of course we've got fires a blazen here too. "Tis the Season"by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, I hiked the Bradford Ridge Trail back in mid-April just before Easter. It was my first trip back to Deep Creek in two years, and my first ever trip down the Bradford Ridge Trail. The wife and two young daughters made the trek with me. We didn't want to come down through Bowen Ranch and have to cross the creek in the spring high-water runoff. The trail was in fine shape. Unfortunately, there's plenty of growth and expansioin along the I-15 corridor here in the land of Zion. (From St. George all the way to the Idaho border) The trick is to get to the small obscure towns AWAY from I-15... preferrably to the East rather than to the West... desert. But like most other Western states, Utah is suffering from the masses and exodus from California. Oops! I'm one of tby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ah... another lively discussion in the forum... Just like the old days ;o) It is a welcome break to visit every now and then to break up the monotany of the work day. All hail the Internet! Thanks for the report(s) Brother Bear and Wizard. I sure hope that there's a decent day for a hike to Deep Creek when I come there to SoCal next week with the wife and two Munchkins. We woke up to heavy snow showers here in Northern Utah this morning. They expected 2-3 inches in the Salt Lake Valley, but just north or the airport here (30 miles) it looks like we already have about 6 inches ofby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Awesome photos Wizard! Looks like that Majik picture machine of yours is still crankin' out fantasies and wonder galore! Look for a personal e-mail soon of our fun in the snow at the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics... some skiing and boarding by some older munchkins... call them chompers? Holly Cow! Shirts, mugs, caps, clocks, calanders and POSTAGE STAMPS?!?!? What WILL they think of next? Cool! I'm waiting for those "tighty whities" with "Deep Crack" er.... Wizard, You ARE the king... Nice Pics. I should have taken some pic's to post of my outdoor experience on Saturday: 14 Inches of fresh Rocky-Mountain powder on the slopes of the 2002 Olympic Downhill course, then 30 mph wind gusts and pelting icy-snow flakes across the ridge-line at 9000 feet. Yes, another great day of skiing in the Rockies! My dip in the jetted tub at home after a day onby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Lurking... lurking... not finding much of anything exciting. It must be winter. No wind in the air at the Deep Creek Hot Springs Forum. Nothing happening, no news of any trips to the springs... I miss the days. Spring is just around the corner, then summer, and the fair-weather hot-springers will be back in droves. I wonder what excitement and controversy awaits. ;o)by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Of course, there are many more special places on Earth that are unique and a joy to visit. Now I certainly don't have the "connection" (Pun intended) that my good friend, the Wizard has as linked below. But there are some great pictures (IMHO) of this wonderful place known as Deep Creek Hot Springs at my MSN group site. There are also some other pictures of Hot Springs in the Idaho aby Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

This is sounding better to me every day! ;o) Pretty soon I'll be able to just sit at home, freezing (no natural gas) in the darkness (no electricity) not having to worry about taking care of the yard (no fertilizer) and not having to drive to work (no gasoline and "Valvoline" More time with the family is just what the Dr. ordered.by Gary - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Deep, brother... Deep Yes, I'd say your memmories and your experience will live on forever. And your influence... will ripple through the eternities. One should make sure those ripples of influence are on the positive side... ripples of good and noble things done in life. There will likely be a record of each and all.
