I rode that skyride a couple of years ago. Quite a veiw from up on top. My brother and I also climbed nearby Mt. Humphrey which is the tallest peak in Arizona. You can see to the edge of the Grand Canyon to the north and south to the Sedona area. The San Francisco Mtns are all part of a single very large ( over 16,000 feet tall ) volcano that blew its top. That whole area around Flagstaff is fullby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
DCR, I will contact Brad to see if he or one of his other rangers may wish to attend our next meeting. Concerning the trash, if we form a trash cleanup day then I could pick up the collected trash with my truck at the Forestry parking lot. I have no problems taking it to the Victorville dump. AZ, Hopefully you can make our next meeting on 7-15. The more folks with us the better :-) What about Deeby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Great Job Ron! Looks like you have covered everything I can think of. Thanks for taking the time to present this information :-) For a name, what about Deep Creek Hotsprings Interest Group?by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The weather should be real nice tomorrow. I'll see ya thar :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, I think you and Ron are basically talking about the same area.by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, I used to have a pager. Maybe I gave you that number. Contact Katrina for my home number or send me an e-mail at hotspringswizard@hotmail.com to get it.by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ron, I called Frank this evening and he was not home. I left a message about the meeting and the time so he could attend if he wished. I'll let you know if he calls back.by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ron, I just happen to have Frank's phone number so I call and see if I can get a hold of him and let him know about our plans and about the meeting.by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for your springs report NN :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Viejo an Naked Man, Thanks for the stories :-) I do think talking to people carefully and diplomatically will help increase the general visitors awarness of the USFS rules in general and other things that help keep the springs a clean an enjoyable place for all. I think this should be part of our mission down there since we are visiting the spring much more often than the rangers and have the oppby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Looks like we all agree with a meeting at the springs. Will 12 noon be acceptable for all. If that is Ok then let us know below and well be set :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Dennis, I don't know if the green light device is CO, but it is, OK, and it only hurts when you close your eyes :-) I'm sure you will have a great time on your first visit to DCHS. Lator Gator :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, In this case I don't think the pixie dust will work, just give her one good rap on the head with a rolling pin and she will be good to go :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanx Jobe for the knee advice :-) Perhaps Katrina may know what law pertains to the rule the USFS has that says that there is no camping within 1 mile of Deep Creek. I think it has something to do with the endangered Arroyo Toad. I'll try to remember to ask Brad about it next time I talk to him. I'll give Dorthy your good wishes for Mothers Day. It sounds like you won't be making our first meetiby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Brad returned my phone call today from a call of mine to him, earlier in the week, when I inquired about how he preferred to be contacted. In our phone conversation today he gave me his e-mail and said he preferred that our questions and inquires to him go through one person like me as he suggested, so as not to overload his e-mail. Of course I'll let our group decide who they wish the contact peby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I mentioned Tanya as going to our meeting. Since her last name is Ryan I got her confused with the other Ryan thats coming. Good thing we don't have a whole lot of people coming or I'd really be confused :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Viejo. For some reason I thougt Rons last post above was yours. It was hard to think straight this morning while my wife was beating me over the head with her rolling pin saying that I had been on the puter for too long :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'm not opposed to this " 6th pool " name. Of course I'm sure Rick will come along to tell us what he feels about this idea. I could see that this might put him in an awkward spot if he doesn't like this name. Viejo, I will get my Wizards powers of perception back on line with a spoonful of pixie dust followed with a gulp of my favorite box car reserve :-) Also Viejo, I " sometimedby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ron, I agree too that we don't want to leave anyone out that has indicated that they want to come. I think that you Ron, DCR, Nakedman, Tanya, and I are all planning to go to the springs. The last one I wouldn't know about so far is Ryan. Ryan why don't you give us a time when you can make a meeting down there and we will make that the time of our meeting since it looks like you will be the lastby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Tanya, I have not made any allegations about Mikes actions concerning vandalism and violence since I have not been witness to Mike doing any of these things. Also I have said it before a number of times that Mike has the right to let who he wishes cross his property and have never questioned that. In the post that I have done in this thread I have discussed basically three points, that there shouby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ron, I prefer the approach that looks at things realistically. I have above, in several post, just made an observation about how I feel on an issue, specifically the fact that there should always be an option of access from the north to the springs, besides the Bowen Ranch. I'm not burning bridges, I'm just stating my opinion as I always have since I have been frequenting this forum. My point aboby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Naked Man, I would have never figured that one out. I've been calling the 4th pool the Serenity pool. I think its a worthy name. Anyway I wonder if this 6th pool name for the forum would confuse others too. Many people have no idea how many pools are at the springs if they are new to the area and Rick may not be interested in this idea also.by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ok, I know I'm a Wizard and all but this " 6th pool " thing has got me stumped. What does it mean?by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
DCR, I'll call you and well talk about doin the ride in together. In regards to the meeting. It sounds like everyone that is attending the meeting is planning on hitting the springs. I think this idea of the park started last week when I mentioned that I might not be able to hike because of my knee. Well it is much better and I will be able to hike next weekend. If were all headed to the springsby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Mp, Deep Creek is day use and the rule is that people are supposed to be a mile away from the creek by sunset. I would not know how the USFS defines sunset specifically. I think as long as you where well away from the creek and hiking out anywhere around sunset that they would not bother you.by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Good points Ryan. We are attempting presently, as you have seen, to get together a collection of people for the purpose of concentrating specifically on things to help down at DCHS. Hope you are able to attend our first meeting. We will be deciding the meeting time shortly :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I went and checked out the two free parks I mentioned recently that might serve as a good location to have our first meeting. I think the smaller park which is called Mendel Park will do fine for us and its practically on the way to the springs. It has nice grass and trees for shade. There is one table that is covered by a rigid shade structure but if its occupied we can sit on blankets on the grby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
DCR, Its either the drugs, the electrodes, or Tanya's last post in the thread " questions for Katrina ". I think the little bugs in my head are saying its the last one I mentioned :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Dennis, we have been informed recently that there is a 9 out of 10 chance that you will be told to leave when you arrive at the Bowen Ranch Gate. They have rules you know! Ah, just kiddin, I think? Anyway if you have learned about DCHS from a book or the intenet then you already have a bad mark against you, or so I've heard recently. Well thats just what some folks say. You sound like a nice persby Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Viejo, Yes I remember the good ol days, fine times in the drug rehab facility and I sure do miss those electrodes they used to attach to the top of my head when I told them that I wanted to go on the DCHS forum :-)by Wizard - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
