You often do have to pay your 5$ on your own, into the envelope and box at the ranch house, if you get there early. But the ranch has signs up saying no entry before 7 am, no entry after 10 pm. I wouldn't try to enter earlier.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Yeah, Tom posted a pic of the trash one day on Celtfire's Facebook page. And then how it got cleaned up. And now its back. And forth. The day I reported about above, the hippie dude hiked out the biggest bag of trash on the beach next to the sign; a few hours later, a new bag was there filling up and I had to go rifling through it as a PCT hiker threw away some of my stuff near my towel on the beby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I was down at our paradise recently and when I arrived, it was mostly all PCT hikers who had camped out the night before. All skinny-dipping and enjoying the springs in the morning. As the day went on, more and more and more PCT hikers arrived. It is early in the season for them, but it is the season now. The clothes went on as more arrived, by the end of the afternoon it was a like a weekend dayby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Sorry to miss you yet again Wizard! I'm sure I'll see you there soon, at least I hope so. And thanks on the correction about the Arizona Pool. I couldn't decide if the rocks had always been there and the pool had just been completely stripped of its surrounding sand; or if there were more rocks and some pushed further into the pool area. Thanks Mojave. I enjoy writing up the "reports" and plus that way I have a concrete memory of the day. So, reports of my biological magnetism are greatly exaggerated! I do however think I had been at the springs once with the woman who hiked up the trail when I arrived at the Bowen parking area. The woman who ran across the road in front of Bowen's driveway--good memory!--she and her boby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I had an amazing day at the springs on Friday. Hit the road from LA early - the whole LA basin was fogged in, complete pea soup. Even when I started the climb up the Cajon pass to the high desert, it was still fogged in, and it would be hazy still in the Apple Valley as I drove to the springs. But I found the sun there. Bowen Ranch Road has been made less sandy and less wash-boarded by the raiby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

mojave, you mean you were only kidding about Enya, right? We know from your youtube driving videos you like your electronica in the desert. I do too. I'm not sure I can match these excellent lists and stages of the drive. When I do the drive out to the springs it's a 2 hour commitment. I usually pick an album or two to get reacquainted with on the drive. Some of these stick in memory. Iby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
hilarious. i keep one of the BIG cans of pringles in the back of my vehicle. I swear I ONLY eat them after a long hot hike in the desert. I'm not sure they are actual food.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Camp at the Ranch. You can't camp by the creek, and can't have a fire there - and when it's cold at night you may want a fire. Idiots who build fires at the springs exist, and may someday heavens forbid destroy the paradise that exists down there. They should always be discouraged. There are fire rings at most of the campsites at the Ranch. If it is windy don't build a fire though as it is dry evby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I do agree with Paul P that you should go through Bowen Ranch - for first timers, it is the most clear and in many ways the easiest. You should look up directions and such online, but you should know that Bowen Ranch Road is a dirt road, most cars can make it driving carefully. The road is 6 miles of dirt, watch your odometer. The first four miles are pretty well traveled. The last two miles a biby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That graffiti is in the "enclosed" area off of the beach across from the main pools, on the Bowen Ranch side of the creek. The area some use as a "changing" room - it is pretty trashed if you peak in there (I haven't been down in a while but it has been in the past).by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Dev for posting/responding. People should be on the alert and vigilant about these black dogs and their owners. I'm sorry you had to witness that. I hope the Pomeranian didn't die? I have recently gained a lot of respect for Pomeranians. I've always been a "big dog" person and didn't understand little dogs too well. It came as a surprise for me to learn that the Pomeranianby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Both terrible stories - I hope Tema is OK Wizard. I've never seen a pit bull attack a person, but that is just me - a pit bull did try to kill my dog once, it was a drug dealer's dog in a local park, and the dealer had to punch the dog and pry its mouth open to get it to release my poor dog from its jaws. My dog avoids all pit bulls now, but both my neighbors on either side of me have one, and thby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I posted on the board once with a mountain lion sighting on the bowen ranch trail. A guy was watching, but I didn't really stick around nor think it wise. The drought seems to be provoking strange behaviors however, I wonder if it is so in the high desert. The other day in LA, at 12:30 in the afternoon, with lots of people around, I was hiking with my wife and dog on a road that leads up into theby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
