QuotePaul P. Joe or Coyote, would either of you have the GPS coordinates for the T-6 crossing? I'm having a tough time locating it on Google Earth. Thanks 34 degrees 16' 5.59 N 117 Degrees 7' 44.44 W The Hook Creek Rd bridge that crosses Deep Creek. The PCT trail crossing bridge is just north along the creek, a really thin line that crosses. Hope that helps!by Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Directions, the easy method. Bear Valley heading east. Right on Central, cross RR tracks, over top of hill, turn Left on Ocotillo. When the road turns to dirt, take second Right (Bowen Ranch Road), continue over cattle crossing, another 2 miles-ish. Left at signs anouncing the ranch... you're there. Went this weekend, you'll have absolutely no problem unless your truck is very low. Aby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Entrance is $5 per person, $10 for overnights (per person). Pay at the ranch house, if no one answers (he probably will on Sats), fill out and envelope and put it in the marked mailbox. See Ya!!by Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi MaGrace, and Welcome! I go to DCHS most weekends and can give you some advice, in order of your questions: Camping at Bowen Ranch is fairly plentiful for tent sites, it's an 80 acre desert/hill area with some pre-set sites, tables, firepits if you manage to get there early enough to get one that is, haven't seen a BBQ, unless you bring one, otherwise tent camping on any flat area is alwaby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Quotewindsailor NUDE CRITICAL MASS is a way to encourage others to experience the Springs sans suit. You probably noticed as people arrived they surveyed the situation, noticed that the majority was nude and thought, “what the heck” I guess I’ll try nude.” I’ve seen this for myself. My point is - NUDE CRITICAL MASS is important, so, lets all soak nude. Amen Windsailor! I'veby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wow, great report Geo... wish I would have made it out yesterday vice today. So glad it was a nice day for you and the people that were there. I met the family you mentioned today, but since there were many more textiles today than you noted yesterday, they stayed clothed, great people, talked to the dad a while. We had about a 10-20% natural ratio throughout the day, nut a difficult day to fiby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
He was upcreek from the springs about 500-600 feet from the "pack it out" sign. He pulled it out from under one of the rocks along the hillside in the creekbed area. I wish I would have seen it before he devoured it though! lolby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
A beautiful day at the springs. I arrived at Bowen Ranch at 745, there were already cars in the lot, turns out the decided to spend the prior evening at the creek. I stripped and had a wonderful freehike into the springs just to have a group of textiles making all kinds of whooping and hollering while jumping into the creek… so I decided to go upstream, spent about an hour and returned to theby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Quotetanj Are the roads to Bowen Ranch and the trails to the hot spring all accessible for tomorrow? Went in this morning, passed two fire trucks heading out, gave them the wave and thumbs up. When I reached the Coxey Rd intersection, the fire teams were loading up to leave out. Great job to all those fire fighters getting the area under control and out in such a quick manner. The day started out beautiful! I arrived about 745, hiked in, saw only a few people there. Walking around the area I found it to be trashed with beer cans. There was a guy who was trekking PCT from San Diego back to his home in Washington. I spoke to him and he said there was a group of teens (15-16yo) who were there the night before who trashed the area. The area got cleaned up before longby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
But probably not as crowded as Sunday with the hikers from CSUSB Outdoors club planning a trip. Will keep a rough count of textiles/naturals to report back.by Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
See you there! You should try freehiking in as well, it's a wonderful feeling. I will be and should be arriving between 730 and 8. Tan ballcap with denim brim, walking stick and green backpack. I'll be meeting others while there as well.by Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
SO very sorry. It was just Saturday, so yes, it is a type... 5-14-11. Time sure flies. My bust.by Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I arrived at Bowen Ranch at about 745am. The owner was actually in the house, took my money, asked me if I had trash bags, to which I informed him I had three... this seemed to please him for he wished me a good day. As I got to the parking area, there was a group of college students arriving. They were meeting up with some of their friends before heading in. My condolances Hipockets on your fathers passing... DCHS is a great place to refresh. I am heading down tomorrow so I'll post to let you know how the area is when I get back. When I was down at the end of April it was fairly clean, but that was mid-week and I could tell the regulars had hung some trashbags and picked up the area. Thanks for the reminder, I will take a couple extra bags in witby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The road was fine for that, as a matter of fact on my trip out on Apr 26th, there was a guy riding in along Bowen Ranch Rd. It's a 6.1 miles from the corner of Bowen Ranch and Roundup Way to the parking area at the ranch, and places to lock up there too. Let us know how it goes! Good Luck!by Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you Jobe for taking care of that smelly mess... I for one appeciate that you cared enough to do that for someone who doesn't respect the beauty of the area. I was both surprised and pleased that the Rangers were out taking care of issues. I was going to visit on Sunday but due to a bad caugh was unable to go. Trip report for Tuesday, April 26th. Let me start by saying I had a wonderful experience. This was my first time to DCHS so let me start out with the trip in. I started by researching the dirt road into Bowen Ranch via Google Earth. The road is in really good shape, had two small areas in the road where the water is currently running across the road. I was a bit confused with the signage, soby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you Ryan for this trip report. I too am a new naturist and working on my "freedom and liberation". After reading your report, you have spurred me on to actually go on a hike next week while I'm off work. I have been reviewed this site over the years and have friends who occasionally hike to the springs but never tagged along. You have reminded me to pack in some needed iteby Johnny - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
