I like your suggestion from your very last sentence.

Towards the end of last Saturday while at the springs, Wizard and I were sitting in the creek water in front of the Crab Cooker. He as usual, was sitting there with a cup of his special boxcar wine and I with a bottle of 7UP, ... oh I mean, ........ Plastic Bottle!!!!! (no glass bottles at the springs please)

While we were sitting there talking, one guy strings what appeared to be a flat nylon strap across the creek. I would estimate the width of the strap, about 1 inch. He proceeds to secure each end of the strap to rocks on either side of the creek and pulls it very tight. He then steps onto the strap and does a tight-rope-walk over the creek. He was successful and it was the first time in all the years I've been going to DCHS, that I've witnessed such a thing there. I estimate the nylon strap was 4 feet above the creek when he walked the rope.

Okay, so that's my story and something positive to boot.
