A quick trip down to show some friends who were visiting from Canada. Went through Bowen this time, Mike was in the shack and was amiable but very thorough. Gave us a new map that had a lot of instructions, said there was a helicopter rescue the day before. The fencing and building outside his property look pretty near done, I wonder if/when he will hand over the access. One thing I noted on the map/instructions was a $20 penalty fee for people who leave after dark or the next day. It was around 80F and windy as we made our way down. Very happy to say there's no new graffiti and much of the stuff on the Bowen trail has been covered over with grey spray paint.
When we got down there I saw hippie dave and around 5 other people in the creek pool. The creek is super shallow and the sand that was moved by the winter flooding has created a sand bar and there is a large algae bloom downstream(picture below). Walking around in the creek I could really feel some of the hot spring sources coming up through the sand. I didn't have a thermometer but the pools did indeed feel warmer. CORRECTION: Only one slackline. I vacuumed out the algae in the serenity pool and drained the contemplation pool. We left around 2pm and 90F as we walked out before any big crowd might arrive probably 10 people max all day. 50/50 nude/textile. Very quiet day.
