I grew up about 40 miles from DCHS, in the 60's & went there on a regular basis. There was theft & vandalism way back then, especially in that area, a lot of it done by locals cuz they knew people would park there & a lot just by people cuz they knew they could do it & not get caught. Hey, it's still Southern California---unfortunately, you have to have an awareness that it could happen, & take your stuff with you or leave it at home. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago, near a beautiful waterfall in Maui--came back, all the car windows smashed & all my stuff gone. It stinks.
