Jason, I heard about this same thing and the information you have provided is identical to what I was told. Sounds to me like the sherriffs and the USFS are already aware of these people and have been trying to catch the suspected child molester guy as you say. I was also told that the sheriffs were also looking for someone else who hangs with this guy you say is named scott. Supposedly scott has been hanging out with this 30 year old guy you described and they apparently stay pretty hidden during the day and then show up around sunset for the night time activity that goes on. Like you said Jason its said that these people have been hanging out there pretty much all the time, all summer.

There is a canyon which has been referenced over the years as " Family Canyon " I think getting this name because Charles Manson was said to have spent time hanging out there with some of his crew decades ago. Anyway this canyon is downstream from DCHS maybe a few hundred yards or less, and it can be seen from the main hotpools area. Over the many years when at times DCHS had people residing there longterm, Family Canyon was where they camped at times because it has many trees where people can hide their camping spots. That is one spot the law enforcement should look for these guys. They probably have other hiding spots having becoming familiar with the general area and where to conceal themselves.

I've heard of other threats being made besides your story Jason. I wish the USFS and sheriffs would do a thorough sweep of the area and get these guys out of there. Its best if visitors encounter any problems like what jason discusses to report it to the Sky Forest Ranger Station promptly because the more concerned calls they get, the more likely they well be to take action. I definitely think you should report as soon as possible this incident where you say scott threatened to shoot you. The good people who care for DCHS and enjoy so much this place really need to be consistent and stand up to these people making threats, report them, because if we don't they will continue to cause problems and intimidate people. I always report stuff like this to the USFS and have done so already regarding this very thing Jason. I think these type incidents should be reported here too but we should also be very careful to get the facts straight so that innocent people don't find themselves accused mistakenly or otherwise unduly targeted as what was the case regarding Carson in the recent thread discussing predators at DCHS.
