The phone number for the Sky Forest Ranger Station which covers the area of DCHS is: 909-337-2444 . And the phone number for Brad Burns who is the head Enforcement Ranger for the same area is: 909-382-2767 . Its best if you can bring a cell phone with you when you visit DCHS and also keep handy in your pack these phone numbers in case of emergency or problems down there. Around DCHS you can get a cell signal on the Bowen Ranch trail just at the top of the first steep hill ( Mo Fo Hill as some call it ) just above the springs, at the point where the trail splits and you can see clearly down the Deep Creek Canyon. Also I would expect you could also get a signal on the hill above the springs on the east side ( uphill from the PCT ), at a point high enough to also see down the canyon. I know there are phone cell towers on the ridges above wrightwood that are line of sight down the canyon and this may be where the phone signal is coming from or maybe the towers are in Hesperia somewhere. I have even got a signal at other places further up the canyon which has a line of sight view down the canyon. Its good to test your phone signal and become familiar with these spots which can be fairly quickly reached from the springs in case of trouble or need of rescue personel.
