%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Hot Spring lovers know how rare and precious Natural Hot Springs are. Unfortunately the Forest Service is considering demolishing the Remington Hot Springs, which have been beautifully maintained by Friends of the Remington Hot Spring volunteers for over 10 years. Local residents and others are ready willing and able to address any valid concby Sam D. - California Hot Springs

It's a fantastic place but don't get in trouble going there. Check weather and road conditions before you go. Be prepared.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
May I suggest taking another look at your soul. Why do you need to come to the place where people come to seek solitude, peace and tranquility and use it as the place to pursue your love interests? Is this what you envisioned doing when growing up? Can you look in the mirror? Is this the only way a grown man can meet a soulmate? I am not being judgmental of your sexual orientation. Hi! Could you elaborate more on the reason for your question? DCHS welcomes all. Personally, I do not want to see the springs becoming a "meeting" place.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you for the report. How is Little Caliente doing? How are the pools? Is anybody scrubbing them? Report is requested pleaseby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Remington is still partially under water - the bottom pool has sandbags but creek water still overflows. When I was there in Sunday it appeared that the water level went up 2" closer to 6PM. Did everybody sign the petition circulated at http://www.savethetrails.us/Default.aspx?PetitionID=42 to save Remington from destruction? We need as many signatures as possible please.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
I am just wandering whether the large black heavy (70lbs) bag full of trash ever made it to the top? I collected and took it up the MOFO hill on Sunday (06/27/10) but could no longer walk. Carson helped me with another one (40lbs) that I collected as well. I am worried that some genius would kick the heavy bag down the hill. BTW, there was a snake at the trail about 400 yards from the loby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Another set of trash bags made it to the lower parking lot. Adam and Frank whom I met at Remington a couple of times helped me carry the trash I collected. Overall, the crowd was loud and textile but did not give me any negative vibes. A helicopter flew over for 2 hrs continuously. Apparently, a woman got separated from her husband and got lost. This morning I drove to Remington to see first hand the condition of the springs. The lower 2 pools are under water and the upper tub is only 3" above the creek level. Since it can not be drained via drainage pipes now (you can still bucket the water out manually) nobody bothered to clean it. It's covered in algae and got sand/rocks on the bottom. I could not convince people soaking iby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I am glad to see my orange bucket is still there. Did you see any brushes? How was the road to Little Caliente ? I am thinking of next weekend.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Just came back from a trip to Remington. The lowest pool is already under water and the middle one only 2" above the creek. It won't be long for the entire spring to go under considering snow melt in the mountains. At around 3PM we overheard gun shots with an automatic weapon. People are still edgy after last month target practice by 2 idiots who kept entire spring population ducking undby Sam D. - California Hot Springs

Hi Jobe! I am sorry, but with my boss I can't plan anything. I was going to take a day off and explore Goldstrike with you but flying to Phoenix instead. Please accept my apologies, I will not be able to go afterall.by Sam D. - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Sorry, Jobe. I thought I'd finish Wed night my business in Las Vegas. I was wrong. I can meet you in the parking lot of Hacienda on Friday morning, only if you are still in town. Please let me know if you are and what time.by Sam D. - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Hi! If I'm to meet you at the trailhead of Goldstrike in the morning on Thursday, what time would it be convinient for you? Also, just to make sure, the trailhead is by Goldstrike casino, right?by Sam D. - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Hi Jobe! I might be in Vegas tomorrow. When are you going to be there? Can you be my guide? Many thanks in advanceby Sam D. - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Just want to point out that a small pool construction along the edge of the creek was one of the items mentioned by the FS in their desire to shut down Remington HS. The pool was barely visible and covered by the creek water 90% of the time. Yet, it was noticed by the rangers who took many pictures including the aerial photographyby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Sorry AI, I did not mean to offend you. From google: http://www.gorp.com/parks-guide/travel-ta-sequoia-national-forest-california-sidwcmdev_065953.html Let me know if you need help locating Hobo campground. Do not park in the dirt lot with a phone poll - cars get broken into more often then in the larger (lower) dirt lot further down.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
I went to Big and Little Caliente's a couple of days ago and all the roads were open though some mud pools were pretty deep for a passenger car. I am not sure if the gates are open now since it's raining. For that info you can try calling the ranger station Los Padres National Forest 6755 Hollister Avenue Suite 150 Goleta, CA 93117 (805) 968-6640 (805) 967-3481 I always seek a rby Sam D. - California Hot Springs

Hi! I was talking about George & his wife (do not want to mention his last name here). They have been talking to FS for a long while and I think it came to the point where petitions are the only remaining option. On weekends, regulars try to have somebody at the parking lot. But it can not happen all the time. Police presence has also increased. I think these extra efforts driving theby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Hi Paul! Per my conversation with the "founding father and mother" of the Remington HS ( people I know and trust), the pressure has eased a tiny bit but still remains. Whatever, FS tells you can be changed in a matter of minutes. Up until 3 months ago I was known as the care taker of the springs so I can tell you for sure that the FS really wants to demolish the pools but is weiby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Remington HS is in real danger of being broken by FS. We are seeking letters from people, with positive statements about their visit to the springs. If you ever visited the springs and liked what you saw, please take 3 min to fill out and submit the online petition. http://www.savethetrails.us/Default.aspx?PetitionID=42 We need as many signatures as we can get.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs

Hi! Sorry for the off topic.... but I have a question to Jobe please. Jobe, do you think, given the weather forecast for Vegas, it's a good time to visit Gold Strike? I might be in Vegas from Tue to Thur and contemplating the visit to the HS. Is the water hot enough to be enjoyed? Are you in Vegas now? If yes, when do you think you'll be going? I might ask you if I can come along. Manyby Sam D. - U.S.A. Hot Springs
