Hi! The creek level is going down but only a small tub is available after sand bags are placed around. Ping me before you go and I will find out from my sources.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs

Hi! Sorry I was not clear - English is my 6th language. I am trying to find out if the recently discovered broken bridge ("Lower Oso Bridge on the Santa Ynez River Road" ) Rick mentioned in his post in this thread is going to affect the road repairs to L. and B. Caliente hot springs? Do we pass this bridge when driving from Santa Barbara? I got all kinds of maps but can not seemby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Hi Paul! Could you please tell us when have nothing to do the way to access the springs via Red Rock trailhead please? Also, that bridge Rick mentioned in the post... how does it relate to the road repairs? Does it have anything to do with the road? Sorry I am truly map-challenged. I get lost in my house regularly.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
We should decline any gifts of such kind. I keep throwing my back dragging them out of DCHS. The only time a float can be left is when the creek level is too high to cross on feet.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Just got back from the springs. I counted no more than 20 people at all times. Some kids were making some noise in the first half of the day but then they left by 3:30ish. I saw a significant drop in trash production. I collected only 5 full bags. This is quiet an improvement since last Friday. By the time I left there were only 2 bags left. I had a bag stashed half way so I did not take anyby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you, Paul. I meant to find out if the bridge failure affected the regular accessibility to both Caliente Hot Springs. I like driving all the way to the springs instead of a long hike. Please let me know if you think the bridge failure would prolong the road closure to both springs. Many thanks in advanceby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
outlawHEART, I am not sure who you are. Are you the folks with fuel line problem? I sent you a PM cause I can not remember you. I will not be able to visit on Sat. Also I meant to reply to outlawHEART's post and somehow managed to reply one level up.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Do you think your dogs presence was enjoyable by everyone at the springs? I doubt that. Lots of people come to the springs to seek some solitude and tranquility. Then they encounter dogs running around or barking. Then they discover dogs in the pools.... I hope your dogs are well behaved and you are one good hotspringer. I have nothing against good "non-bothering" dogs and their owneby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
For map challenged...how does this report relate to both caliente springs? Many thanks in advanceby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Appreciate your help. I should make it down there this week, so hopefully I can break that campsite with a broken guitar and pickup some blankets and floats.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Appreciate your help, Johnny. I was worried about all the trash flying in all directions in the wind. I found that if the place is kept immaculate tards tend to trash it less. What was the condition of the trail and BR parking lot where the bags were torn? I can not go until 2 weeks from now. I hope it's not too much of the mess. Thank you again for picking it up.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Just got back from the springs. Overall no more than 20 people at one point - nice calm folks. The hillsides on both sides of the trail are littered with trash. I picked up only what I could reach. At the springs I collected 8 40-gallon bags of trash just from the area upstream. I ran out of bags to check downstream. A lot of folks volunteered to carry them. Thanks for the info, Paul. Do you know if the road is passable on a bike? I can not wait. Is it being repaired or the forestry still waiting for the funds?by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Called the SB ranger 2 days ago. The road to Big and Little Caliente HS's will not reopen until at least Sept. They told me "in about a month" at least 5 times every month.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Can we introduce that to DCHS? I'd like to see some of the algae eaten.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you for the information, Paul. I'd like to somewhat disagree. In 2009-ish the congress approved some stimulus $$$ for national forests. Besides a bunch of useful projects that make sense (fire breaks, bridges etc) there are also new buildings for the forest bureaucrats. The forest headquarters, currently located in Goleta, will move to Santa Maria. The Monterey and Mt. Pinos Ranger Distby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
It was a late arrival (4PM) so I can not tell what went on in the morning. The Bowen Ranch side of the creek where people cross is pretty trashed up. I talked to some folks who mentioned a group of local teenagers who made the mess the night before including a fire pit in the Womb. I collected a supermarket bag of trash on the way to the springs so I was somewhat hesitant to start new clean upby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I just want to clarify one thing. There is no such thing as "too much vodka" That's a myth. I blame bacteria in the river on this guy's illness. Only 5 shots??? They don't make people like they used to, do they?by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
So, instead of fixing the roads which have been closed for few months, the entire effort goes into the paperwork to qualify for additional funds. Where have existing funds gone ? The Forrest Service needs to organize a meeting to discuss the strategy of organizing a series of meetings to deal with determining the strategy to evaluate possible options to determine the best possible approaby Sam D. - California Hot Springs

Thank you very much! How accurate is the driving map? I always exited on Milpas and took 144 and 192 and El Cielito Rd dealing with permanent temporary detour along the way. If I start at Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, can I take Mission Canyon Road->Foothill Rd->Mountain Rd-> Gibraltar ???by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Thanks, JoelTDahl. Could you please tell us the differences in elevation to hike let's say to Little Caliente? If the path is anything like that of to Deep Creek, it's a no no for me. Also, you said that the road to Big C is closed. Do you think it's open to Little C?by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Thanks for the link. I spent 2 hrs the other day trying to find this info on their website. I hate calling the ranger station as the response almost always sounds like I am annoying them.
