How was it in Paradise last weekend? Did the Philistines invade the sacred space, or were they hopefully absent?by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Beautiful photos of a fantastic location. Thanks, Rick.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Damn, Sage, I'm gonna wimp out. I probably won't hike on in to the springs for another month or so when the creek is a bit warmer. What area of the southland do you live in? Sometimes a carpool is a good thing especially when the gas prices move toward $4 a gallon. If you do hike on Sunday I hope that you have a really great day. Cheers!by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Dear SageBrush, You wrote: "I'm not sure if you guys do anything on Sundays. Let me know....." I say, we are nothing if not flexible with time and days. Sundays are good. Let us know when you plan a trip, as I have younger relatives I might be able to coax into coming and together the kids can have a giggle at our expense. Sagebrush, I hope that you can join the DC volunteers on a weekend when we hike in early and work part of the morning on projects like trash pickup or eradification of non-native invasive plants and then kick back and enjoy the pools, the creek and the friendship of fellow hot springers. I'm encouraged to read that you're introducing your niece to the unique Deep Creek Hot Springs environment aby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You Betcha, Sagebrush. Remember, aim low. Cause them to sing like Sopranos. ;-)by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well, I heard that the infamous Lonny got a whippin' of a lifetime and probably won't be back. There are plenty of other wankers that plague our little paradise from time to time and I'd bet that Sagebrush and her friend were unlucky enough to encounter one of them. Come back again, Sagebrush, and bring your slingshot.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Hah! In my earlier story involving a slingshot and Weird Wanker I'd forgotten the weirdo's name. Rick's post brought it back. It was Lonny. Thanks Rick. Again I have a name to go with the bad memory.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Unfortunately, whenever a nude miniculture manages to exist this kind of behavior sometimes occurs. The clothing optional area at San Onofre State Beach attracts "weirdos" but the wonderful unoffficial committee that patrols the place act as a team to stop gawking, picture taking (of people without permission) and other disagreeable behaviors. Damn! Caught by another "old guy" whose vinyl copy of Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" is still playable on probably the last working audio turntable in town. OR..... Rick's memory is better than mine. OK, youngsters, just put your iPod ear thingies back in your aural orifices and ignore the reminiscincing going on here. Well, maybe some of the kids talking about teenage boys shooting guns, fighting, someone dying, mother-stabbing, father-raping ,S.W.A.T. teams and all kind of mean nasty things.. ... and not a word about it in the local papers, (hmmm) Maybe some of those storytellers found my stash of Purple Sunshine that I buried near the big redwood tree upstream of the springs back in 1972. Yes, all of your taxes are going (or gone) down that hole labeled "Bush's Wur 'n Tur" (that's bushspeak for War on Terror). There's nothing left in the coffers for anything else. Remember, if you complain about it the terrorists win.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Emails similar to yours have popped up on this forum and on sites like rec.nude. The common theme is based on the belief that there are lots of live, nude girls at hot springs, clothing optional beaches and other places where nude recreation happens. The fact is that the majority of nude recreationists are male and that most of the women who visit the places I described arrive with guys. MC is a dangerous man. Unless one wants to face him down and see if he's bluffing (a very dangerous move, IMHO, considering that the guy is often armed and thinks himself a high desert Wyatt Earp) then try to talk him out of his "extortion" and move on and make complaints to proper authorities. Based on MC's history over the years his been invulnerable to complaints, but I feel that hby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Rick Wrote" "BTW, the hike to the dam is only 4.5 miles. I don't know why so many people call it 6." Rick, the hike from the dam to the springs is more uphill than down and it's certainly 6 miles............. The hike from the springs to the dam is probably 4.5 miles. On very hot days the distances are doubled. ;-)by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I'd bet that the party heads in the LA Weekly article left their trash for others to pick up and pack out. That's bad in itself, but now other readers of LA Weekly will be trekkin past the "the gray-ponytailed and shirtless desert surfer" at Bowen Ranch with bottles of wine, plastic bottles and other dreck to be left, once again, in and around the sacred creek and springs. Rally cars are usually little economy car sized vehicles with sorta smallish tires and they haul "ash" on Bowen Ranch Road type dirt trails all over the world, rain, snow or sunshine. Well. Miguel, since it's supposed to rain today, especially in the mountains, the only way fire might start is if the forest service hired helicopters and airplanes to drop napalm on the terrain.... Hey it could happen. All they need is the suspicion that Muslim terrorists are building weapons of mass destruction in the Village. Dr. Hedlund didn't ask us. We know that the organism he discovered is the Wizardecium, a single-celled lifeform often observed without exterior cover, only dangling cilia visible.
