You are right about Postmus, Rick. He is does not have a record of supporting environmental issues. Rather, he views the desert as a sacrifice area for cattlemen and local and visiting motorheads. Use the land, water and resources up in one generation if we can. Our thanks to the red race for setting such a fine table. Makes it easy to vote, if you are either for or against.by mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
WEMO is a formal District level process and BLM is required to address every comment submitted by the public. Responses to comments will be included in the Final EIR/S. The comments must be submitted in writing and must be received at the following address by Friday Nov. 12, 2003: WEST MOJAVE PLAN 22835 Calle San Juan De Los Lagos Moreno Valley, Ca 92553 This is a District level process. In fairness to Mike Castro, he does perform special tasks in support of the Hot Springs. It is well known that he responds to many emergencies at all hours of the day and night. It would be unfair to expect him to hike the trails in these circumstances. He does have the support of BLM and local law enforcement for this reason and is not being rewarded as a "confidential informant".by mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You are right, Laughing Bear. No one in the right mind would propose putting a motorcycle trail through a cultural area designated as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern. It would never survive a public forum. So they didn't propose it. They tacked it on to the final amendment to the WEMO plan after all the public meetings had taken place. It contained no language that would identifyby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
One more may apply, Paul: Water Quality. Consistent with the Clean Water Act, water quality in wild, scenic and recreational river areas will be maintained or, where necessary, improved to levels which meet Federal criteria or federally approved State standards for aesthetics and fish and wildlife propagation. River managers will work with local authorities to abate activities within the riverby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you, Laughing Bear for calling this to our attention. Juniper Flats has had a history of non-compliance by OHV riders and the trail you speak of was a result one rider creating a new trail and others following. In the space of two years, it is now deeply rutted with other trails leading from it. We only have to look at Arrastre Canyon (which is on the left as you proceed up Bowen Ranchby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Gary, We are all enjoying the tame and peaceful forum and hope that it continues on that path. There has been no resolution in mud-slinging. I have observed open hostility to differing views in the past, with attack on any perceived vulnerability. It is not fair to the poster to be mobbed and creates reluctance in others to post. As an open forum, we should all maintain our tolerance and seby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It was meant to reflect the importance of right action, without seeking consensus of opinion. In the case of this forum, it is in support of those who challenge prevailing thought when it does not find resonance in their heart. Also, the quandry you mention is a common human experience and can be quite humorous. Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked. As they went along, some people remarked "it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding". The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they traded places. Later, they passed some people who said, "What a shame, he makes that little boy walk." They decided they both would walk. Then they passed sby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
How far from reality is the BLM on WEMO (West Mojave) OHV route plan? BLM will designate the trails that are open to OHV's. BLM will not sign the closed routes. BLM has no plan for monitoring compliance. BLM has no plan for enforcement. BLM will leave the closed trails to rehabilitate themselves. Is there another planet around here somewhere? I clicked on "Deep Creek Rules" on the Forest Service Page expecting to get expanded rules similar to those posted by DCV on the Black's Beach website. The page was blank. What is the chance of getting the Forest Service to put the DCV rules in this spot? Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It is hard to believe that a proposal of this magnitude would be disregarded by the BLM in presenting the West Mojave Plan for public comment. What else is waiting to be thrown on the table at the last minute? Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Why wasn't this proposal put into the current West Mojave OHV Plan along it's wishful assumption for OHV compliance? When fees were put on refuse disposal, some people started using remote roads to dump household waste. Similarly, if fees are charged in the areas dedicated to open riding, expect OHV users to refocus their riding toward limited-use areas such as Juniper Flats and adjacent to theby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Gail, I think everyone has signaled a peaceful intent and would like to move away from further conflict. Thanks, Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you, Gail! For taking a very postive step in resolving the long-standing question of ownership of the Bowen Ranch House. Many are looking forward to your posting of Chicago Title's response. Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi Wizard, In response to a request made by both you and Katrina, Sycamore shared the product of her excellent research effort. Wasn't that of some help in sorting out your confusion? Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for your support, Wizard. But why does regard for each other have to be temporary? With a little self reflection, we can certainly find our amusement without having it be at the expense of others. Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
People who know Laughing Bear know him to be intelligent, peaceful, brotherly and direct in his communications. Consequently, he is highly respected by those who know him. He clearly advised you that he does not take threats to his property lightly. This is a trait shared by all members of this mountain community. I am sure you feel the same about your own property. You continued to goad himby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Katrina has proposed: "I think it is time to call a truce here on these type of comments directed at people personally." It is refreshing to hear that from her. Personal agendas and attacks on persons do not have a place on this Forum. That includes attacks on persons outside the Forum (and we may occasionally need to be reminded.) Hi Gary, Thank you for seeking balance and fairness in this forum. I have been reading your posts and I have great respect for you and your work with DCV. I regret to say that I am running late and for the next several days I will be at a location where I will not have access to a computer. On my return, I will post a reply your post. I assure you and that I have not formed a fast opinion.by mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I had you figured, Wizard. All mouth. This is not a bet, it's an investment. Not like the last one, where you put out $150 in a pipe dream. What did Gail offer you in return for that investment, the opportunity to clean toilets for your free guests at historic Bowen Ranch? Let's start at $10,000. That will get your legal machine going. If you want to go higher, I'm game. Check with the oby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi Sycamore, I applaud your efforts to bring understanding to the issue of ownership of Bowen Ranch House. However, I agree that is senseless to continue. Gail is either playing games with you or she really lacks the comprehension to grasp the subject matter. Or possibly she is mentally ill as some have suggested and can't deal with reality. This case certainly meets all the diagnostic tesby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi Wizard, You want specifics? Sycamore just explained in detail the legal background for the ownership of the Bowen Ranch buildings. You were one of the people who requested that she do so. I hope that you at least gave her the courtesy of reading and attempting to understand what she wrote. You keep asking for "proof". Hi Wizard Still talking about that 40 acre easement? You sure you don't want to take Sycamore up on that offer to buy the hot springs? I'll bet she'll take $150 for it and you could swing the deal on your own. Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks, Jobe Something just flashed through my mind as I read your post. Glad it was right on! Mojaveby mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You are right, Laughing Bear. It stops being entertainment when the malicious intents and designs of others are hurting real people. You brought me down to earth and I thank you for hauling me up short. This is no laughing matter. I have no tolerance for people who get their pleasure from hurting others. Hi Sycamore! Thank you for acknowledging me. I am very impressed with you and the accomplishments of DCV. I appreciate the quality of your posts (and that you step back when the mudslinging starts!) As for me, I am not a political person, but I do think the world would be better off if we had more simplicity in our lives. So you are correct in picking up on my concern for the environment.by mojavegreen - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
