The Pomeranian owner and companion gave the dog CPR once they crossed to the other side (Bowen/Freedom Trail) beach (per my brother's report). When I rushed up to the dog prior, it seemed like a hopeless case. Heart was beating but with each beat, came blood rushing out of its nostrils & mouth. With my limited medical knowledge, I'd (poorly) assume it was spinal injury & internal bleedingby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I posted that incident on FB DCHS group. I'm not good with dog breeds but there were two short hair black dogs at the springs. One of the black dogs attacked the tiny dog. A 3 lbs vs. 80 lbs dog, guess who will always win?! My friend told me both black dogs, including the one that attacked the Pomeranian (Trixie) left with the same owners. This just brings back a flood of memory I've been tryingby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

It was a gorgeous day to be hiking. Made it to Freedom Trail in my boyfriend's Highlander 2WD with only a few heart stopping moments. Somebody seriously need to grade some precarious areas...Two gentlemen were right behind us on the hike down around 1230. One of them carried a blue pail, was that you Jobe? The sun was out and there was a cool breeze during the hike down. It was a first time foby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi Jobe! I was next to you when you checked the temperature in Arizona pool. We both said 105. Brought my best friend from the Philippines to DCHS for the first time this day. It was an awesome day to be at the springs until the incident with the big dog vs. little dog. We left a bit shook up and traumatized as we both love animals. It did get busier after we left. That's so sad! I've camped there on several occasions. They were most welcoming to me and my 6 year old. Jordy had this little boy crush on one of the towhead little boys, which I presume was one of the grandkids. We look forward to every opportunity to visit there. My heart breaks for the whole family. I introduced bf to Naked & Afraid recently. I have real life camping survival experience (I was a Girl Scout in the Philippine wilderness!) He's a medic in the National Guard and has spent 1 week camping around Deep Creek area years ago. We're thrilled to do something like the show together. Test the boundaries of our skills and relationship. Ha! Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I hope you get over this "flu-like" symptoms so your GPS device can understand you. I haven't had a flu shot in ages & can recall getting "flu-like" symptoms after each flu vaccine I got. Only had two or three shots before I stopped buying into the hype. My 6 year old, no flu shots (ever) and oral/IV antibioics (yet). I hope we're not putting pharm reps out of business.by calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Omg, what a relief!!! <3 Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Cemetery? Maybe it's telling you to bypass the sandwich place and head straight to there...Is your sandwich place the heart attack burger joint? Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You're a good man Mohave. May your generosity reward you a thousand fold. I met Aubriana on several occasions. Was introduced to her either by Hippie Dave or Mountian Dave. May she rest her soul in peace and continue to grace DCHS with her energy. Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Looks more like a swimming pool! Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I've soaked in a hot tub (man made, electricity driven ones) in a snowstorm. Truly delightful. I'd jump out, roll around in the snow and jump back in the hot water. Very invigorating. I attempted this once after sneaking into a hotel's pool area at midnight in Big Bear. My head and back discovered the "pile of snow" was hard packed ice. Glad the concussion didn't stop me from snowboardiby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Soaking in the hot springs in the rain sounds amazing!!! Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Reminds of the time I urged my 4 year old to swing on the rope swing at Deep Creek. Regrets followed immediately after she started swinging out. Thankfully she is a good listener and let go before she would have hit the rocks. Not a proud moment for me as a parent. Every second she was in the air, my heart felt like it was going to explode out of my chest. . Makes me wonder how my parents surviveby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It's awesome to hear feel good stories. I'd like to think I can survive in the wilderness of some tropical island somewhere. Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It may be a stupid question, don't judge me. How safe is it healthwise to make love in any of the hot springs? Brain eating amoeba notwithstanding. Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Watch "Oh The Places You Would Go at Burning Man" on YouTube. I saw it the same year I went to Burning Man for the first time. I might as well had been IN that video. I am coming home again this year. Much love, Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have no problem with the map. Having recently discovered Freedom Trail thru a very specific turn by turn guide here, a map is especially appreciated. See y'all at the springs! Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That's disheartening. Other than the first time I went to Bowen Ranch and Mike threatened to take out his shotgun at me for coming back at sunset (gate was already up around 7pm and having only paid $5) I've had nothing but wonderful experiences at Deep Creek. I've gone thru Bowen Ranch a few other times without incident but I've since chosen Bradford Ridge Trail and Freedom Trail as better optioby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
This was my first time at Freedom Trail. We took my friend's Nissan Frontier 2WD and made it just fine. The directions I found here were easy to follow. By far, the shortest hike I've taken compared to Bradford Ridge Trails and Bowen Ranch. I read here that it's approximately 1.2 miles one way. As long as I have a high clearance vehicle, I'll be taking this route from now on. The pink arrowby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Whoa, I was waaaaaaay off!? Haha! Thanks for the clarification. I used to take Bowen Ranch 45 mins to the springs on a nice jog down. One to one and a half hour hike back. How many miles is Bowen Ranch? The parking fee and lack of coverage turned me off from going thru Bowen. Happy trails! See you all at the springs. Much love, Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Since discovering Bradford Trail, I haven't gone back by way of Bowen Ranch. Bradford is free, no adventure pass needed to park. I hear this trail is a 6 mile (give or take) trip one way. Last weekend, my friends and I took the trail to the right of the fork, before the chicken wire fence. A few months ago, we took the trail to the left of the fork, through the fence. In comparison, the one to thby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It was indeed Bradford Ridge Trail to the right of the bridge at the end of 173. We sighed a sense of relief. It was short lived as we attempted to conquer the 6 miles to Deep Creek. All in all, it took us 2 hours 10 minutes to get down with a few confusions about which trail to take at the barb wire fence. The directions said something about a Y and turning right, etc. it didn't make sense to aby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You're my hero! Along with Brian who also carried 40+ lbs of my pack this weekend while we hiked Brandford Ridge Trail to Deep Creek and back. Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
On the closed gate where 173 ends & what we're hoping to be the trail on the right side of the bridge. See you all beautiful peopel there! Dev & Brianby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That's wonderful news! Next trip, my prissy little Prius won't have much to complain about. PS this road seems familiar, like it's the way to Heart Rock falls. Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Wizard! I have been leaning towards trying out Bradford Trail one of these days after reading here about the worsening road conditions at Bowen Ranch. Pardon my laziness, how do I get there from Berdoo? Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
We went once a month last year until it got too cold for me. I haven't been back since last year partly because my Prius is too delicate to take the abuse at Bowen Ranch. My man went there a few weeks ago on a Tuesday and found the place quite deserted. He said it was just him and his friends and Mountain Dave. I'd love to go again very soon. Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Kinda off topic but thank you Wizard for bringing me back "home" a second time. I enjoyed your 2012 BM pics thoroughly! Devby calidev - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
