Re: DCV meeting minutes

At long last...the meeting minutes! Before I start, I should note that we discussed and agreed in a previous meeting that items voted in or agreed on in meetings would be open for forum discussion for one week to allow for members who did not attend to express another view. I suppose, then, that we would all agree that we mean one week from the date that the minutes are posted. (Although we should attempt to get them posted within a day or two, and I apologize for being so late this month.)

As always, these minutes are based on my own brief notes which may be incomplete or faulty, so other attending members may correct or add to what I have said.

Our meeting discussion was lively and friendly. We strayed from the agenda once or twice, but found a great deal of agreement on all that we talked about.

1. Follow up on Brochure: Final approval of the brochure seems imminent, and we all should have received an email from Ron about Ranger Brad's positive response to it. Under distribution methods, we agreed that we should not single people out for distribution. For example, if we see someone violating etiquette, we should not get out a flyer and approach just that person. Better to offer the flyer more broadly, including the offender among all the people around us to whom we offer the brochure. We must recognize that some of our flyers will end up as trash or be used to start fires.
I don't have any notes on the modification process...did we discuss that?
As for translation into Spanish, it may take a while but we will work on it. I will do the initial translation as time permits, which means slowly. Then Ron will go over my translation and make corrections or suggestions. Finally I will find a Spanish language teacher or Master's program student who is willing to give it a final proofreading. Eventually we will have a Spanish translation. Other language translations were discussed, and we agreed it would be valuable, but we lack members with enough skills in any other language to translate it, and those internet translation services tend not to be very useful, as they translate literally word-for-word and not by intended meaning.
