Jim Pepper died of a heart attack a long time ago, if I remember correctly it happened at the old Moss Mill just east of the Bowen Ranch where he used to hang out in those days as his base to hike from to DCHS. I had conversations with him many times down at DCHS and I found him to be very interesting. We always got along just great and were on the same page on many things. Mike Digioia last I heard lives in Scottsdale, AZ. Mike was good friends with Mike Castro, well, on and off really, and Jim was one of Mike Castro's arch enemies, hence where Mikes angered views about Jim come from. A lot of contentious stuff was going on back in those times.
