My property was cited for code violations because.........there were code violations. I do believe that you flatter yourself too much by claiming to protect the property owners from further code enforcement action. The County of San Bernardino continues to enforce the law with the residents who are non compliant. In my opinion, it is hypocritical to take a pious stand on the law being upheld in regards to Mr Castro, and then opposing the laws against having an illegal junkyard in a residential area. There were residents of the village who recieved no citations at all because their homes and cabins conformed with the health and safety laws. Those of us who have complied with the law have recieved no further citations, including the DCHS inc address on Andes trail.
In our issues with Code Enforcement, we have found them to be willing to give each individual time to deal with their problems. I was told as long as I was making progress, there would be no further action and there hasnt been. One of my neighbors has been forced to move with his family to town because he was unable to meet code standards. Did you protect him Katrina? No! I suggested to him that he appeal the action and grandfather his trailer in but my neighbor opted to move. Numerous junk vehicles remain on his property and I suspect that is why he continues to have problems.
In your reporting Katrina you left out one important detail, pictures of all of those junk cars and debris. I believe your reporting is biased and only tells part of the story. My neighbor's garden had nothing to do with the unsanitary conditions at my old structure. My place was abused by a series of tenants that occupied it while I was living out of state and a serious health hazard existed. K rats ran rampant in the structure and the best solution was to tear it down. The fire did the rest.
My suggestion to you Katrina is that you tell the whole story, not just the part that suits you. Untill you do,not many will be convinced by your reporting.
