Blacks should be awesome on Sunday. There is still quite a bit of old kelp from the last storm on the beach. Not a major problem except there are more flies now. I would suggest you walk toward the north end of the beach toward the big buoy and look for good spots close to the cliffs. The sand there is kelp free. There are some nice dug out pits ideal for sunbathing. The water is slowly warming up too. However, be aware that the sand sharks are protective of their new shark babies. One female sand shark recently charged me and rammed my foot in only one foot of water! They don 't bite, but if you don't know what hit you it can freak you out. So far no stingrays, but do the stingray shuffle anyway if you go in the water. Parking is tighter now at glider port during weekdays because of the Salk Institute folks, but weekends should be fine for parking .
