Well put, Celtfire, and your post also helps to provide a historical perspective. Problems at Deep Creek aren't new, but the biggest problem is the lack of ranger prescence and visitation because of limited federal funding for the USFS. This is not expected to change in the foreseeable future, so as Katrina has repeatedly said, Deep Creek Hot Springs and Bowen Ranch are essentially lawless areas. There will come a day however, when the Bowen Ranch gatekeeper will self-destruct from his drinking and bi-polarism. Meanwhile- everybody be careful!
