Where is Scenic Hot Springs located? Are they on private or public land?by Ron - U.S.A. Hot Springs
I received the following e-mail regarding the clothing optional status at Saline Valley Hot Springs from SPA (Saline Preservation Association). I encourage those interested to write to the Death Valley National Park Superintendent about this change. We usually go there on President's Day Weekend but if we have to wear bathing suits and clothes the entire time ... wearing a suit in the pools isby Ron - California Hot Springs
Thanks for all the welcome back messages. Don't expect to see me here every day. I will probably postpone my return to Deep Creek for one week as the forcast is about 11 degrees warmer next Saturday with no chance of rain.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Very funny Rick! I have not checked this website for over two years but after reading just one thread I feel I have not missed a beat! Nothing has changed! Lot's of love to you all! PD: It is a miracle I remembered my password after all this time. PD2: Any chance the forum has developed a spell check while I was gone?by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
No Jobe it was not taken on Saturday. Judging by the post Kitty Kantina (not katana) made on the "Deep Creek 6/15 Report" thread it must have been taken on 6/14/05 when this person visited the springs.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Paul, That is a recent photo that was emailed to DCV by Kitty Kantina for posting here on the forum. You will notice the new growth on the Weeping Willow and on the far side of the creek that was left completely barren and stripped after the winter floods.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Sorry it has taken a while for me to get out hear and respond. I would like to thank all of you for your recognition, encouragement and support. I especially would like to thank all those of you that helped proof read the article and provided excelent feedback that allowed me to enhance it further. One final thanks to all the DCV members that help by educating visitors, picking up trash, cleanby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for the very good intentions Serenitynow. Treeman has been planting indiginous trees since the Forest Service spoke to him, that is why I was surprised to hear of the fruit trees. In addition to potential erradication by the USFS, those trees you so kindly planted may also face drought over the summer months as they are quite high up on the hill and less likely to be watered by volunteerby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yep, great report. Thanks Van for posting it. I very much appreciate it. Very little that I can add. I did have several people that when asked if they new about DCV, replied that they did and very much appreciated our efforts and those of other volunteers. There were two comments that I feel are worth sharing. One was made to me personally by a gentleman at the springs and the other was emaby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Definitely an effort worth supporting although I will not be able to attend. Please keep us posted on any updates or if we need to write letters.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi Rick, I assume you just took this photo. It does appear that Silverwood Lake still has not reached it's spillway inspite of all the rain. How far do yo think it has to go, maybe five to ten feet? Maybe even a little more than that?by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Due to the recent rains and its consequence on the Bowen Ranch Rd. and the level of the creek which will be uncrossable and possibly covering many of the pools this weekend; the regular last Saturday of the month Deep Creek Volunteers (DCV) meeting for February has been cancelled. Instead, DCV members will be notified via email of an alternative location and date so please check your emails. DCby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Rick, Is that the Silverwood Lake spillway?by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
HesperiaMan, You will find our schedule of planned events on our website at the events page. Here is a link for your convenience. http://www.deepcreekvolunteers.com/events/index.htm There is also a link to our website towards the bottom of this forum, to the left of the rainbow. Jobe, Sorry but I will not be able to make it up there this Saturday or Sunday.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I agree with Nevada Naturist points and defense for all the good and hard work Jobe puts in especially in cleaning pools and removing trash. The same can be said about AZ Mike who has put in many hours building and cleaning pools. Many of us have worked side by side with him building and repairing pools and have good memories of these ocassions. However, HesperiaMan has a point as well, and heby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Paul not much but I will email members a quick overview and some other news if possible this evening. I will then see if I post it on the forum.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Katerina said "does this mean that Mike Castro is closing the toll gate at night to reduce damage to the springs caused by his paying customers?" No, I think that the reason we are seeing less party goers, is the colder weather, the faster flowing deep 40 degree creek waters that makes it less inviting (and a little dangerous) to cross the creek after dark. Rick, Thanks for updating the link.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
HesperiaMan, It was good to meet you yesterday. The forecast proved to be accurate and we al enjoyed a sunny but cool day. Hope you may consider joining DCV. To read more about yesterday's events and teh raft service provided by DCV members, please see the recent post titled "Rash Update".by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
DCR, Thanks very much for your rash update report. It was really a wonderful day at the springs and the weather, although a little chilly, cooperated with a mostly sunny day. It was real nice to spend time with you and your husband, all the other DCV members, and the wonderfull other folks that joined us. One of the aspects I enjoy most is meeting other folks down there and been able to enjoyby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for the update Jobe!by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Jobe for the report and the work cleaning the reports, but I have the same question regarding the depth of the creek across from the beach. If you can post it we very much appreciate it.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The previous post was in regards to Randy's comment, not Nevada Naturist. In regard to Nevada Naturist's post unfortunatelly there are cases where nude statues are being covered o removed. It is incredible to what level of absurdity this issue can get, that is why it is so refreshing to see someone fighting back.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That is true but many of those websites are after the Dollars cater to the repressed American Society. In a more accepting society you will probably find less individuals willing to pay for those photos and thus less demand for the photos. In addition when it comes to other freedoms, we generall don't limit an individuals freedom because other individuals may abuse it, instead we either prosecuby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Did I say 10:00 on the email notification. It should be 1:00 p.m. usual time. We could always meet on the Bowen Ranch side of the creek but any report from someone that visited this past week end would be very much appreciated.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Kudos to Liana for having the guts to take this fight all the way to the State legislature, although I am a little skeptical as to its possibility of success there. However there has been some limited sucess on this front in other states and in Canada so maybe there is a possibility. On the other hand, it is really disapointing to see Randy Thomasson's comments and quote towards the end of theby Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Any updates as to the level of the creek after a week of sunny warm weather?by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have not been reading the forum for a long while due to many conflicting issues both at work and at home. I did notice that the speed was extraordinarily slow but assumed it was due to additional security and firewalls implemented at work. However, today I have been pleasantly surprised as it is about 10 times faster than back in December. Thanks Rick.by Ron - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
