Thanks for the very good intentions Serenitynow. Treeman has been planting indiginous trees since the Forest Service spoke to him, that is why I was surprised to hear of the fruit trees. In addition to potential erradication by the USFS, those trees you so kindly planted may also face drought over the summer months as they are quite high up on the hill and less likely to be watered by volunteers. Of course if you had planted them further down they would need to survive winter floods, so there is no great alternative.

As for DCV getting involved in any legal action against BLM, we don't have the funds or volunteer time to do so. There are many other groups that would probably have a better chance with that endvour. We would probably be willing to write letters or support the efforts of others from the perspective of the effect on the access to DCHS. However, we feel that we better preserve the springs by remaining impartial towards any issues regarding private land ownership in the area and it's owners.
