you guys have interacted on here before. He's a forum poster from the past.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Sounds great Hiker. I hit up some post-rain Pirates Cove that day…it was beautiful and even warmish, but with huge waves from the storm still.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It's Global Warming! Joke, joke. But if the Womb hits 110, the End is Near! Wish I had been out there Thursday -- sounds like the perfect day.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
i can't remember the last time i visited DCHS on a weekend. because of that i don't often see it getting abused - i see it during the week and mostly quiet and peaceful. maybe it would be a good idea now that it is fall for me to visit again on the weekend just to see what is going on with the crowds. but i like my springs quiet and peaceful. wow that Womb pool seems hotter than it used to be nby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'm sure it wasn't the same without me Hiker!by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That's awesome news and in line with what I've been hearing Paul. For example from Kim S the balneologist over on soakers forum - that nude use on the actual old nude beach is being smiled at and tolerated. Last time i went to trail 6 i crossed over onto the marine base, it was a week day. There were some old nude beach users there that I talked to and shared stories of "the good ol days.&qby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Nice. No Wizard, you didn't miss me, I was far far away on my recent trip out of the country. I heard about last Friday and the tickets on the Facebook page. Always good to catch a Wizard cooled Womb pool day! No sadly my last time down was the day I saw you last……..by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Also, Wizard, you appear in photographs over there in the group site, so in a sense, as with the springs themselves, you are already "there" -by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I would leave the request Wiz - I think Celtfire still is the main "administrator" for the group, and he only appears and makes comments periodically. So he might not be online lately. Celtfire let Wizard in! The group has around 700 members so I don't think the policy is to keep anyone out except obviously fake avatars/profiles. (There were some at one point spamming the group.)by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
hey paul, Celtfire started a Facebook group for Deep Creek Hot Springs some years ago. You have to join to see the content there, it is not public. It is a useful alternative source of news and postings about the springs to this forum if you belong to it and use the horrible Facebook. I don't think Facebook links work here? but on Facebook you would search for Deep Creek Hot Springs and the groupby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
As reported on the Facebook group page : It was Friday morning, tickets were given to campers, ticket has gone up to $175, and the ranger complained about the trash situation.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Early morning there sure is the best time - I agree.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
There is a lot of negativity sometimes on the board - and its not hard to understand. There is a trash problem and too many don't use the place responsibly - leave no trace, pack out what you pack in, camping, fires, etc. But I'm also always amazed by the positives - many who post here and others who don't who do amazing amounts of work down there, cleaning, caring, making sure things are right wby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
great report. it does sound like a perfect day.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Regular visitor Tom posted some photos a few months back of the trash around the sign that had built up then - on Celtfire's Facebook group for the springs. Soon after the photos were posted, all the trash was hiked out and new photos were posted of the area cleaned up. Just FYI.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
hi Sam D. - just wondering: Why not post the photos here? It would be good for folks to know the trash situation is bad.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have to say, since I know the poster having met her and her friends previously at the springs, just this: It is really nice to have a trip report here on the board, they have become too rare here. Everything talked about but the springs sometimes. laura is right about the trash - it was bad 10 + days ago when I was down there last, and it is great to hear of folks trying to do things to get itby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ah the adjusting of the Womb pool temperature! I've seen it done with skill……...by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Again, that is awesome about the hiking out of the trash!by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
A friend told me of a man collecting trash all day and sharing beers - I knew Sam D must have been there. Laura I'm glad you had a great trip down - hope to see u out there again sometime and that is great about the trash collecting from you and yours too. I'm always amazed Sam D at how much trash you collect. It is really a gift to the springs and I wish it wasn't there - more realistically whenby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I found a guy down there last time. He was older and alone, and had walked all the way in from the dam. He hadnt been to the springs, he said, in 20 years. He asked me if the bowen ranch was nearby, if he could hike up there in like 5 or 10 minutes. I told him it was a 2 mile hike, and uphill. He was dismayed. "I thought I would try to buy some water from the Ranch guy," was his thinkinby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
This is no longer news but just came across it on Facebook. Just a reminder to keep hydrated out there, bring plenty of water or containers to filter or get your water from the source at the springs. http://blog.pe.com/breaking-news/2014/08/01/hesperia-four-people-become-dehydrated-while-hiking/by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wish I had my dog with me on my last trip to the springs - to guard my lunch from the terrorist ground squirrels! chipmunks or whatever the things are. They ate a hole in my cooler while I was swimming in the creek and made off with many things and even ate some ice packs yum.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Felt real bad for the young people and their car. I noticed while soaking in the Womb in the morning shadows that the 3 of them arrived at the creek around 10 or so. They hiked out around 12:30 or 1 pm when I did. So they didn't stay too long. I asked them why - and they said they had to get to work. Then I passed them driven off the road, the front of their car up on a desert bush, someone attacby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I really appreciated the cleaning of the Contemplation Pool. It was beautiful by end of day. I'm sure Jobe had more of a role in that then he admits! Thursday was a beautiful day all round. Especially liked that moment toward its end when Jobe, Wizard, and I were pretty much the only ones left down there. Well, actually, I think we really were the only ones there by then. By contrast: There wby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Great report! Sad to hear about the trash piling up, others told me about this over the past weekend. Everyone who reads this forum, lurkers and visitors, please take at least one bag of trash out with you when you leave. Pick up one big bag of whatever you find. And hike it out. Usually we hope for the floods and rains to wash out the creek basin. Sounds like it caused the many campers to abby neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wow! Einstein hair! And what about the beard?!by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Paul - I avoid San O specifically to avoid paying the entrance to this park because of the nudity ban. I haven't been in years now. Boycott. But I would like to check in on it, it was a beach I went to almost every summer weekend before the nudity ban. I loved it. Anyway, didn't go today - clouds.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I may visit San O tomorrow just to take the lay of the land. It's been too long.by neogeo - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
