I hiked in from Bowen Ranch yesterday morning and had a great day at the springs. There were just a couple cars in the lot when I arrived. At 9:30 the weather was cool and breezy at the ranch, but it was very comfortable hiking in and simply great at the springs. The creek is a bit colder and a bit higher than on my last visit. On me, the water was a just below hip high. It was a quiet, peacefby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Joel, I made that hike last year November and had a good time. Water is not usually a problem, provided you have a filter as Madrox pointed out. There is usually water in the creek even late in the season. There is also a hose and spigot by the cabin and corrals at Willet (just below the springs), but this water should also be filtered. There are old cabins at Willet and one if them hasby hiker - California Hot Springs
I hiked in early today along the Bradford Ridge Trail reaching the springs at 7:00 am. Nice cool weather at that hour and a very peaceful hike. Looking at the springs from Bradford Ridge, it appeared very quiet with no activity in the pools. As I arrived however, I could see a couple groups of campers still sleeping and one fellow was just entering the Womb. The water in the Womb was very nicby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks neogeo for sharing about the rest of the day. I'll look forward to talking to you again. I have never really gone to the pools, falls and beaches upstream. I'll have to try that sometime. I'm usually just happy to be at the springs. Hopefully, next time I'll have more time and I'll do some exploring.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I enjoyed a nice visit to Deep Creek this afternoon. It was not as long a visit as I’d like, but it was better than no visit. I reached the Bradford Ridge Trail parking lot (by the bridge at HWY 173) a little after 2 PM and there were two cars already parked along the road. Considering it is early August, the temperature was pretty comfortable. I hiked to the springs along the Bradford Ridgeby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have only been going to the springs for the past few months. I have never had a bad experience, but I usually go on a weekday and I have not been there in the summer (this last winter and spring were wonderful).by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Kenton, There are other routes, I have tried several of them, but none are really any easier. Some are shorter, but steeper (the Freedom Trail) some are more gentle, but longer (6 miles one way from Mojave Dam at the mouth of Deep Creek Canyon). For me, the trail from Bowen Ranch is about the best combination of grade and distance.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Here is a pretty good map of the Bradford Ridge Path. I posted this once before back in Feb. http://www.mapmyhike.com/hike/united-states/ca/-lake-arrowhead-area/144125121800846786by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Does anyone know if the water level is still as high as coyote reported on the 22nd? Crossing the creek from Bowen okay? Thanksby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
If you are a serious hiker (and backpacker) you can try Willett Hot Spring along Sespe Creek above Ojai. Its 10 miles one way with several creek crossing so you won't get a crowd. The trail is good with gentle grades, but its still 10 miles. The hot springs are above Sespe Creek in a canyon and flow through plastic pipe into a large (10-12' diameter) round hard plastic tub that can be drained anby hiker - California Hot Springs
Thanks for the pictures. I was there on Friday and it was very nice, warm for a change and just 5 or 6 folks while I was there.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
