There are other routes, I have tried several of them, but none are really any easier. Some are shorter, but steeper (the Freedom Trail) some are more gentle, but longer (6 miles one way from Mojave Dam at the mouth of Deep Creek Canyon). For me, the trail from Bowen Ranch is about the best combination of grade and distance.
