I hiked to the hot springs on Saturday morning along the Bradford Ridge Trail. It was already warming up at 7:15 am or so when I started my hike. There was one car parked in Highway 173 at the trailhead when I arrived and there was a pretty good flow over the waterfall in Kinely Creek. The hike in was quiet, no one on the trail but lots of lizards and a ground squirrel or two. Oh, and lots ofby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I hiked in on the Bradford Ridge Trail two weeks ago with no problems. Nice hike and nobody on the trail on a Thursday afternoon. I usually drive through Twin Peaks and take Grass Valley Road to Hwy 173, then down 173 to the trail. This portion of Hwy 173 is not plowed after it snows and can be difficult to get through if there is much snow. So, I don't usually go that way if there has been muby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Bowen Ranch Road was in pretty good shape last week. A little washboard like in areas but otherwise fine. The worst areas are actually at the ranch on the way down to the lower parking area.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The lucky lottery granted me a single ticket at $390.00. I think I'm happy to get a ticket, however, I'm not so sure. I'll have to see how BM 2012 actually works out. BM 2011 was my first and I loved it. But its obvious that the ticket problems of this year will change the event, even if they can figure out a way to get the theme camps back on track. MomLovesElectro If you take the Bradford Ridge Trail you end up on the same side of Deep Creek as the hot springs and don't have to cross the cold creek. But the trail is a little longer and steeper.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

'Made a brief stop at hot spring near Ojai. I had been by before but it was in the evening and i was not sure I could find it. This time I found it. It was very pleasant although with a good strong sulfur oder. Several pools of varying temperature in a nice setting near a creek. Very fun to try something new.by hiker - California Hot Springs
I arrived at Bowen Ranch on Friday 10-7 at around 3:45PM and I could see smoke from the fire. From the smoke, the fire did not look very large. By the time I arrived at the springs around 4:30 or so, there were helicopters and fixed wing aircraft flying around and I presume dropping water and fire retardant. A couple who arrived at the springs after me (just before dusk) said they were passed bby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Wizard for being one of several who got me interested in going. We went home through Bridgeport, but I couldn't convince my friend to stop at Travertine. Next time! Neogeo 2012?by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard, We had a great time and since I am no longer a Burning Man Virgin, I expect I will be going again. We saw the fireworks and watched the Trojan Horse burn on Friday, but decided to leave on Saturday morning to miss the crowds. Kind-of missed seeing the Man burn, but was also kind of sad to see the Trojan horse go up...... Of course he was meant to burn and was filled with fireworks.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I hiked in to Deep Creek yesterday afternoon (Monday) along the Bradford Ridge Trail arriving at the springs at about 4:15pm. There were no cars parked at the bridge on 173 and I had the trail all to myself. It was not too warm being late in the day. I sometimes soak a shirt and drape it over my shoulders on a warm day, but not needed today. When I got to the springs there were about 15 tby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Bradford Ridge is a nice trail and pretty easy to follow once you find the trail head. I have hiked it many times and if I am lucky I will be hiking it again tomorrow late afternoon. You can look back at some of my previous posts for maps etc. It is very lightly traveled and nude is not a problem. When you do encounter others on the trail, most are not surprised by nude hikers on their way tby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I hiked in early Sunday on the Bradford Ridge Trail. I arrived at the bridge on Hwy 173 a little after 6:00 am, and there were already 4 cars parked in the area….probably campers at the creek from the day before. It was a little chilly but not bad and I free hiked in and met no people or snakes on the trail. It took me a little under and hour to reach the springs going down Family Canyon.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Windsailor, Glad you had a good day. IMO Fridays are the best. I made it in Saturday AM and can confirm neogeo comments. Very nice in the AM, more busy and non nude as the day wore on...... but still a nice crowd and nice to talk with DCHS friends on the beach and under the trees. Hiked out Bradford around 2:30. Met a nice couple coming in as well as a large group of about 25 or so. The grby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I hiked down to the springs yesterday afternoon from Bowen Ranch (for a change). It was definitely a warm day, must have been about 90 at 2:00pm at Bowen although there a nice breeze blowing. There were 6 or 7 cars in the parking area. The hike down was nice, very clear day and the snow on the San Gabriel’s was very pretty. I passed a couple of young women hiking out just above the springs aby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I hiked in early Sunday on the Bradford Ridge Trail. I arrived at the springs at about 8:00 AM. There were a few folks already at the springs; most on the beach, but a couple was soaking in the Womb. It was a very comfortable, clear morning and very nice to be at the springs. I also took a brief stroll up canyon to enjoy the view. I would say normal for this time of year. It's cold, but not too high or swift. Everybody I saw who came that way was able to cross.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Went to the springs yesterday and about 3 to 4 feet of the Anniversary Pool wall near the outlet has broken. I placed some sand bags across the breech to try a temporary fix, but it will need many more sandbags and a better seal. It is pretty much unsoakable. The crossing from Bowen is still cold, but not too bad, just below chest high at the deepest short stretch.by hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I hiked in today on Bradford Ridge. There is still snow on the trail in many places, mostly in shaded areas and on the north facing slopes, but it is not bad. It is good to have trekking polls There was also snow on 173 out of Twin Peaks in a few areas, but it is melting fast, I had 4X4 but you may not need it. There was just 3 or 4 of us at the springs today and I had the place to myself untiby hiker - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Madrox, I have talked to you before and I think we met yesterday briefly. You got into the Womb just before I left. The water fall is in Kinley Creek, which is the same creek that flows under the bridge at Highway 173. Water flows in the creek only during winter and spring. Most of the year it is dry. I hiked in this morning along the Bradford Ridge Trail. There is a lot of ice on the road in Twin Peaks and I lost traction in a couple places so be careful. There was also ice on the trail in a few shady spots, but it was nice in the sun. There was already one car at the trail head when I arrived. I hiked in Friday morning along the Bradford Ridge Trail. There was snow on the ground in Twin Peaks, and it was a little windy at the trail head, but actually it was very pleasant once I got hiking. I saw no one hiking in and reached the springs a little after 9. A camper was soaking in the Anniversary Pool, but he soon left for upsteam. I had the springs all to myself for 20 minutes or so. I hiked in early today along the Bradford Ridge Trail reaching the springs at 7:39, 34 3/10 seconds, (sorry, couldn’t help myself ; ). It was a cool blustery hike with not a soul on the trail. Coyote, We have met before and I think we met yesterday at the creek as you were leaving. There were 3 cars when I left the parking lot, one was mine one must have been yours and one belonged to the young couple I talked about above. I didn't see the Palm Springs guys come in, but they may have parked in the lot after I left.
