I was there on Sunday. It was a beautiful day and the beach was packed -- 200 or so people at least on the formerly official beach section, many more trespassing on the Marine base. The lifeguards patrolled in their pickup truck regularly, more than in previous visits I've ever experienced. DCHS is in a beautiful area that needs to be preserved and protected. Clothing optional sunbathing is not harming that area. Pot smoking is not harming that area. Violent human beings on machines are however. Let enthusiasts of off -road vehicles enjoy them in areas set aside for that purpose. I did go to the springs yesterday, for a weekday trip. When I arrived around 9 am, there was a small window of sunshine. Then clouds and wind until sometime after 2 pm. During the morning hours, it was very peaceful there indeed. For a certain amount of time, skinny dippers or soakers even outnumbered textiles, about 6 or 7 to 5-ish. I am an infrequent but consistent visitor to DCHS, I normally visit a few times each spring--usually on the weekend. I have been reading this forum and wondering how seriously to take the complaints about mounting numbers of people using the springs who do not go nude.
