I did go to the springs yesterday, for a weekday trip. When I arrived around 9 am, there was a small window of sunshine. Then clouds and wind until sometime after 2 pm. During the morning hours, it was very peaceful there indeed. For a certain amount of time, skinny dippers or soakers even outnumbered textiles, about 6 or 7 to 5-ish. That changed as the day wore on; just like on the weekend groups of young people arrived and the textile and non-textile groups seemed to self-segregate as on my previous weekend visits, with the young people unfortunately taking over the womb pool. Still had a very nice day. Some great conversations with people who have been going to DCHS for years about the world and the environment and caring for both. Also with a young guy hiking the PCT from Mexico to Canada who had just graduated college. But the day did end on a sour note when I took my last soak in the womb before hiking out, and the two big groups of 20somethings or teenagers that were there started violently screaming from across the creek at each other, as if they were going to have a fight/rumble right then and there. It was an LA versus the Locals kind of thing. A rumble didn't happen, but was the fruit of the union of dumb people and too much drugs. I found it somewhat scary. By that point, textiles definitely outnumbered nudes by about 20 to 5, maybe less. Can't imagine what has changed to those weekends I would go, only two, three, four years ago, and with 30-40 people at the springs almost all would be nude (and relatively mellow/respectful/friendly! as these things seem to go together, I guess with the occasional exception like "inappropriate comment" guy from the other posting up now). I'll keep coming when I can, trying, and hoping.
