LaughingBear,

Just FYI, Scott has had several opportunities to join DCV in the past and never expressed an interest to any of our members attending our meetings over the past three months. Between Sycamore and I, we have given him at least three copies of our brochure. While he had his tent set up at the springs it would have been unacceptable for him to join us. How could a DCV member inform a visitor that camping is illegal when another DCV member has a tent there?

Since he has had his store removed, he now blames DCV for keeping the USFS informed of his presence. As our mission statement states we cooperate with this goverment agency and we feel that it is in our best interest to keep the springs open. I honestly don't think he really wants to join us.

Since he has been down there trash has increased. I have heard him invite visitors to leave him their trash and he would carry it out for them. He has since complained that he ended up with more than he could carry. What a surprise? That is why DCV educates visitors to carry out their own!

On Saturday four USFS rangers, Frank, Scott himself, and the DCV members that attended our monthly meeting all ended up carrying out large trash bags and we still could not take it all out. Good thing that Frank is back. Unfortunately, although I believe Scott had good intentions, his personal merchant agenda outweighed them and resulted in his presence at the springs being more negative than positive.

All that we can hope is that he has learnt from the experience.
