Thank you for sharing your information AZ. What AZ Mike has conveyed in the above post shows clearly a side of Mike Castro that many visitors to the area, never ever see. So its understandable that the friendly manner visitors may have been accustomed to, while in the presence of Mike Castro during their visits, or while passing through the toll gate, has not revealed this other side of Mike Castro that has negatively affected many others frequenting the area through the years. Above we see talk of shooting anyone who would block his way while out riding his motorcycle, hating hotspringers, not giving a rip about the springs, and I would tell you this, its no supprise to many of us in the DCHS hotsprings community. The visitors to DCHS should now carefully consider whether the Bowen Ranch, is now to be considered a friendly, and safe, point of access to the springs. Why would those who truly love DCHS want to give money to, and associate with, a person who states that he hates hotspringers, and doesn't " give a rip " about the hotsprings. Mike Castro has threatened, over a number of years, that he will close down the ranch, and in doing so, in my opinion, attempts to subtlely imply that somehow there will be no way to access DCHS, thereby causing people to support anything that would keep his business intact, and profitable. Thats nonsense, people will continue to visit DCHS, Bowen Ranch, or no Bowen ranch. If Mike Castro hates hotsringers and doesn't " give a rip " about the springs, then I say the sooner the Bowen Ranch closes, the better. Over the years of my experience in the area the man behind the facade of Mike Castro began to reveal itself in many forms. This person who has in the past promoted the visitation of DCHS, earned money from his business funded by DCHS visitors, has shown many of us that Deep Creek Hot Springs was always just a " means to and end ", and the end was money. This talk of shooting those who might try to block his path in some manner, fits hand in glove, with his history in the area. For those who may not have heard, Mike Castro broke his leg, and was therefor not able to ride, or was mobile for much of the winter. No sooner than his leg gets healed, he shows himself to be once again ready to show his aggressive behavior. I must say, during his absence from the area, due to his leg injury, it was a real relief for the DCHS community from the stories of aggressivness and threatening behavior that is par for the course, in the years since Mike Castro has run the Bowen Ranch. Thanks again AZ for taking the time to bring this information to light. Its important for people, whether they be visitors to DCHS, or involved withing that would keep his business intact, and profitable. Thanks again AZ for taking the time to bring this information to light. Its important for people, whether they be visitors to DCHS, or involved with the current disagreements on illegal OHV travel in the area, to be aware of the threat Mike Castro may pose, under the right circumstances, and of his ( in my opinion ) real sentiments, about hotspringers and DCHS. Be careful out there. Reports of aggressive or violent behavior, or vandalism, are important in bringing to justice the perpetrators of such crimes.
